2000 grand am 2.4 auto. Just bought this for my work car. 180,000 on bodyit had a blown motor. Dropped a complete cradle in it with only 40,000 miles. A few issues a constant clicking noise like the turn signal is always on coming from above the dash. 1-2" play in steering wheel before wheels turn tie rods are good so im thinking rack? Also a clunking noise coming from front end while driving, ball joints are good. dosent sound like a axle. I had this cradle assembly sitting around for at least 3 years out of the car.

Clicking noise is either the turn signal switch lever on the steering column or it needs the hazard button/flasher switched. Clunking is in the struts. Maybe a broken spring but prob. the steering plates. Not sure about the steering rack.

My 02 had the clicking noise and I replaced the multifunction switch in the steering column which fixed the problem. I've also heard of people pulling it apart and cleaning/regreasing which also fixed it. I too have a clunking noise in the front end. I've replaced the entire strut assemblies with the monroe sensa trac quick struts, the sway bar end links, and the lower control arms to no avail. All the brakes and hub assemblies are new as well. Someone said something about the steering plates, what are they?

Clicking noise was turn sinal lever. Took it apart and cleaned all is well now. As far as the clunking noise stil workn on that. Ball joints are tight, tie rods are all good and sway bar bushing look good. Control arms are good and tight also. Might be upper strut mounts.
