What are the biggest wheels that can fit a stock 95 GSX?

The biggest that can fit the car is too much for the car to handle. I would suggest 18's with lower profile, but i warn you that will be a bumpy ride. 17's will ride smooth though

Which would handle better 18's with low pro's or 17's with a moderate side wall? My car rides rough anyway so i am not concerned with that. Thanks

40 series tires with 18 will handle better in the corners
but 45 series with 17s will be better off the line.
then the 17s will most likely be lighter. light=good
Ill go 17s with 45 series tires (which I have
:D )

235/45/17 is the biggest I would go. You really need to get the offset right though. Do some research.

What do you mean by the offset? :dunno:

Rims have offsets. Again do some research

by offset he means how wide the rim is. the wider the rim, the bigger the offset. When you look at the size of the rim it will say something like 17 X 6.5 or 18 X 7, where the 6.5 and 7 are in inches. If you want better handling, i suggest a lower offset for a wider turn radius without risk of rubbing.

Copy and pasted from www.tires101.com
The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.

alright here is my new question, i am currently on stock rims with 205/55/R16. I would like to get my car handling on rails, so i would like to know what would work better for that 205/35/18 or 205/45/17? both these tire sizes should keep my speedo fairly accurate, correct? thanks for the help. oh and once again ride quality doesnt really matter, it is how it handles that i care about.

ignore my previous question, i have done some research and found a wheel that i like, and i am just waiting to here back from the company on the weight of it. but here is my question on fitment, the wheel is sized 17X7 with a 40mm off-set. i would like to wrap a 225/55/R17 tire around it. am i going to have any clearnce problems with my suspension or wheel wells??? thanks for the help, i know the tire questions get old.

Everyone just keep in mind if you ever plan to drag race the car the shorter sidewall will hose your efforts big time. I'm on "50 series" tires and thats pushing it. a 225/55 sounds like a good choice. I believe stock offset is 42mm, so 40 will move the wheel 2mm to the inside, you may hit the suspension. Find out what the offset is on the MAzda Millenia stock wheels, 17x7s. Thats what I run. And with 215/50/17s they just rub on the suspension. If they have a 40mm offset, youre in trouble ;) Etc.

I have 18x7.5 with a 45mm positive offset with 225/40/18 tires. It's dropped 1.75 inches on coilovers. I haven't had any problem with rubbing on the suspension. I doubt you'll have any trouble with them. But keep up with the research and I'm sure you'll find somethin that works
