My sons car will not start always. Turns key and nothing but wait 15 minutes or so and will start. Battery fine - strong headlights but starter circuit does not operate. Heard it could be neutral switch or starter wire but were checked and okay. Anybody have any ideas - kid does not care because he says just needs to wait 15 minutes - one day he will be stranded though. THANKS

Okay it could be several things but we need to know more about the problem. When he turns the key does the starter turn over and act like it wants to start or will u turn the key and nothing? If it turns over but doesnt start he could have a bad Camshaft Position Sensor, Also it could be a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor. I had to replace both not too long ago on my 99 Intrigue. If it doesnt turn over at all look at his dash and see if his security light is flashing or illuminated. If it is he could have an ignition problem. Or a problem with the passlock which is a security feature the Intrigues have. IF it is the passlock you can try resetting it by trying this. Turn the key to the run position. Do not turn it over. Leave the key in the ign. on run for 10 minutes and the system should reset.. I did not get an engine light when my Crankshaft Position Sensor or my Camshaft Position Sensor went bad for some reason. Also there is a solenoid inside the starter that could have froze up, but if that is the case I believe the car wont even crank. Let us know what you find.

In my experience with Passlock issues, when the car will not start, it will not even crank, and you get a blinking Security light. The Security light is in the lower right corner of the instrument cluster. If "the kid" doesnt care anything about his car, theres a good chance he might not notice it blinking. Waiting 15 minutes doesnt sound like a big deal....until you shut your car off at a long train crossing, then find yourself sitting in the middle of a busy highway because your car wont start.
