real hid's

has any one installed the real hid kit in their g20? if you did how does the light look? and is it effective in lightibg the road up better? any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I have. And yes, there is a big big big big big diference between the HID and normal lights.

did you get replacement headlamps or just th hid it? i was wonderin if anyone added it to the stock lamps?

I got the dual headlights (sold in japan) and they are H1. I have seen a guy here in my country who has HID on the stock lights and in the foglights. I have seen the car on the street but have not seen the installation, so, sorry, can not give any detail about it.:(

Yes they are the same. I bought them from b00gie, he bought them from NZ.

Thanks, but what is so special about HID's. It seems it just has one extra line to seperate the headlight from the parking light. Are these supposed to be brighter than regular lamps or what. What does HID stanf for? High Inenisty Discharge or something?

High Intensity Discharge :D its a much cleaner light output and has that cool effect where it looks purple from some angles and just pure white at other angles. im sure you have seen HIDs before, like on BMWs and Mercedes.

what is needed to convert the nz hid's to a us-spec p11? im pretty sure they dont jsut

Ohhhhhhhh, Ok. I see now. Get it. Well, I know the BMW's have the projecter beams. So does that mean they have HID projector beams. They are bright as hell, almost blinding. I like those. Me want HID's too. ARRRRGGGGHHHGGHGHRRh.:devil:

To everyone in the US.... Don't forget most everywhere else in the world where the Primera is sold (with better lights) they drive on the left side of the road and their light beam, or pattern is different than ours here in the US. Does anyone know of a country that drives on the right hand side of the road and offers a better bulb than the 9004? I think Germany has H3's???

thats true, but thats why they make headlights adjustable... so I honestly dont think that would present a problem at all

Actually, i think it would... The beams would vary like this (forgive my crappy drawing...)

The light beam will shoot off into oncoming traffic with the left side of the road model headlights, and I don't know of an adjustment to correct that. Of course, I maybe wrong here too. :confused:

I know you can change the beam pattern. Dont ask me how though.

of course you can change the beam pattern... take it to a lube shob and they'll callirate itfor you... depending on the shop, it costs anywhere from 25-35 bucks

It's not a problem with where the beam pattern is at... it's teh fact that the actual housing is designed to throw light up on the left side (off the road in other countries) and ours do that on the right side (off the road for us). With their light housing, on our cars, we shine a lot of extra light right into oncoming traffic. Or at least that is my understanding of it.

Here is my HID lights, please note the is a couple of types if you look at mine, then look at the other pic that was posted, you will notice ,mine are black inside and the other is grey.

I assume they are just direct replacement for stock lights....no mods required.......in Europe that is :confused:

are the ones with the blackinside an option or do they just come with the newer primeras??

what i first thought was the black ones where HID, and the grey ones where just facelift normal type, But i now think you can get grey HID ????

B-Boogie is the man to ask. When i got his lights for him i'm sure they sent a harness with them.
PM him or check back though the threads as he did a write up on it.

You don't need to get the whole new headlights just to get HIDs.

You can get like HIDs for $500 and get them installed. Just ask for H4 HIDs...they have them. I'm getting them.

You don't need to replace your headlight casing...that doesn't matter. Its just the fact that you need the HID bulbs and the ballaster.

How much is the price difference though between just getting the bulbs and the ballaster versus getting the whole headlight????

The cost of the dual headlights along will be around US$600. They are RHD, and have to be ordered from overseas (b00gie got them from NZ).

The cost of the hid is around 400-600.
I just missed a group deal for hid conversion kit, very good price, $335. It was in a Subaru forum.:mad:

I was just thinking it might be more than just swapping the headlights,
My car has extra relays plus the switch on the dash board that you can move the headlights with...

So are H3, H4, ... sizes of bulbs? Sorry for being clueless. What size should I use in a P10?

off the back of my head 9004 are the bulbs for the p10

yes, h3 and h4 are sizes of bulbs. h3 are what most foglights take, and h4's are more commonly known as 9003. If you are getting an hid kit, I would not recomend the CATZ Zeta kit. The Catz kit only bumps the voltage up to 13.8 volts from 12 volts I think. the phillips HID kit bumps the voltage from 12 to 14 something volts.
