Automatic Headlights not working

I have a 2004 eclipse GT with a manual transmission and 60,000 miles on it. It is equipped with automatic headlights that go off that when the car is shut off and the drivers door is opened. For the past month now the headlights don't go off right away, and it doesn't beep to say the lights are still on. Eventually they shut off after 3 minutes, but I cant figure out why they wont go off right away.

If anyone has had this problem or knows the solution I would love to hear it. I looked through the fuses but none seemed to be blown.

AFAIK these cars never came with auto lights from the factory.
