Is the passenger side sliding door supposed to automatically open from the inside by a switch instead of manually?

The unlatch motor will go bad at some point. It will not open by switch or remote automatically if that happens. If you use either inside/outside handle to unlatch it, it will work normally. The same goes for closing. You can buy the motor by itself, it is a little guy. If you haven't ever had the door panel off of a sliding door, it can be a pain and the door controller that houses the motor is hard to get out if you haven't done one before either.
