Good luck, it's a big step. Keep this in mind though please, an experienced driver that's a jackass, is just as bad if not worse than an unexperienced driver, so just don't be a jackass, and watch out for those who are.

New jersey its 16 for permit, 17 for provisional liscense which states that i can't drive between the hours of 12 midnight and 6 am. and at the age of 18 you get your final license.

Sorry for sounding stupid but as I'm not in U.S I wouldn't know anyway,
what's the difference between a permit and provisional licence??
14 to drive a car?? christ here in U.K you have to be 16 to ride a moped, 17 gets your provisional allowing you to drive whenever you like SO long as you are being supervised by a qualified driver!!
Not that it applies to me I've held a full licence for over 15 years!!

at 16 you get a permit, now regularly people get a driving school to come a teach you to drive, 3 lessons 2 hours each = 6 hours, after the 6 hours you get a sheet of paper thats says now you have a permit, the limitations of a permit are , that you can only drive with someone that has had there license for 3 years or more. 2nd is that you can only carry 1 friend in the car.
as for the restricted license, the limitations are no driving between 12 midnight and 6 am, also only 1 friend. and thats it.
at 18 you have no restrictions.

congrats everyone!
where i live you can get a learners permit (class 6L, aka L) when you are 16 and that allows you to drive between sunrise and midnight and you must have a supervisor that has a class 5 or higher.
after 6 months (or 3 if you take a drivers training course such as Young Drivers) you can get your class 6 license (aka N for New) which allows you to drive without restrictions, except if you are caught DUI then your license is taken away, no matter what.
After one more year you can get a full class 5 license.

I don't think the Astina version made it over the Atlantic at all, I sure haven't seen any over here.
Then again, I had a 5 door hatch version of the 323(like the one Vya posted a photo of) badged as a Ford in South Africa and I haven't seen them in a 5-door over here.

You all have some weird rules, well to me, I have never heard of a provisinal lisense. I live in louisville, KY (please visit here before you assumer we are hicks) and we get are permit at 16 which means you ahve to have an atleast one person in the car that has a valid lisense and is over the age of 21, you have your permit for 6 months then you go in and take a roadtest for your lisense, which once you get it you can drive whenever wiht whoever, like your alls finals lisense.
Atleast that has it is for now, they just stated a new law that states " Anyone born in 1989 and above the permit is risen to 1 year" so you get your lisense at 17. I was born in 88 so I only have to go for 6 months.

In Japan, you have to be 18 or older to get either permit or license, but permit is very rare case, since majority of people take training, and that takes about 30 hours and costs around $2000.

yes I admit it there are tons of them around here but its pretty nice around the city of louisville and lexington but getting firther away from these places you can find alotta hicks, Louisville is like a hidden city to the states, it's a great place to live, and we just merged are county and city to make us the 16 largest city and america which is quite a feat I think.

Same here.. well at least most of it, we can only learn to drive after we are 18 and here it depends on how fast you are learning and the price is little bit lower, around €1250 if you pass in one time. Also we have to take a theoratical test which also costs some cash. just add another €100 for lessons or books and the test, and your done here.
Then after we finaly got our license we have to behave good, cause every fault get some points and after a certain value... say bye bye to your license.. :(
