performance chip

The guy I bought my 944 from said that he thought the previous original owner had put a performance chip in it. However, he wasn't sure. I, of course, don't know how to tell. Where can I look to see if this is true or not? Could someone direct me to the correct location as to where these chips are put in? Thanks.

your chips are located below the passerngers feet.
remove the mat, pull the carpet, unscrew the wood.
there lay the two boxes that hold your chips.
they might say like weltmiester or auto authority.

the chips are located under the angled part of the passengers side
(all the way forward)
and the carpet is just velcro stuck to the wood board that you need to unscrew
(4 screws)

Under the steering wheel. Under the dash you should see a square shiny box mounted with four bolts and a plastic wire cover held in by two bolts.This is your ecu unit. Your computer. take those bolts off. your ecu unit should drop down. Pull the metal clip back as you unclip the wire harness. Your computer is noow out. There will be these little clips hollding the cover on bend them back and slip the cover off. DO NOT LOOSEN THE SCREWS. Your ecu unit opens like a book.There will be two little stoppers on the top towards the wire harness plugins. Push those down as you slide the board away from the the shroud around the harness plugins. There will be two plastic towers that come apart. Pop those and unfold your computer. In the top left hand corner you should see a chip that has 12 contacts on each side(it looks like a caterpillar). On that chip it should say the companys name e.g. weltmeister, auto authority. This whole procedure should last fifteen minutes. The part number should look like this POR.01.944.300. I hope that helps. baker
