Widebody Civic

Its funny how things turn out but I had intended to get the Honda S2000 body ready for paint but the weather was wet and I'd just received the Civic kit from the states and SAS's widebody kit so the plans have gone out of the window.
Anyhow 3 pics attached of current progress (- you probably don't need me to tell you that the front is the SAS integra chopped to fit).
No real ideas on colour/wheels at the moment but will keep you posted on progress.

The rims are Kranze Cerberus & came from the Aoshima Evolution V3 Estima although I think you can also get them in one of the Lexus kits but I can't remeber which one

Yeah you're right it is a bit naff - I'll have to see if I can thin it down a bit or find something else - I must admit I had my reservations about it when I saw the kit originally - perhaps it'll look better when its in primer:(

Looks great. Those rims are super real and super chrome. Can't wait to see it completed.

Got round to doimg the other side today and putting a quick coat of primer on. Different wheels than last time - still undecided and theres still the question of what to do with the rear wing.
I'm off to throw some filler at it.

Wow, I'm impressed! Here's my opinion on a wing, make a Type R one.

Question, how easy was it to combine the two bumpers, I was planning on doing the same with my coupe model, but was wondering if this would be easier!

I say leave the jet fighter wing OFF! remember this is just a civic and it is NOT capable of Mach I speeds:D so please use a better wing that does not need a flashing red light! (you know, to warn low flying planes in the dark) love what you got going on with that front end though.;)

I used the top of the standard civic and the SAS integra front clips - Its a bit difficult to explain but if you check the picture you'll see where I made the cuts - the SAS front is a straight drop in. Hope this helps

Agreed re the rear wing - I've got a Civic type R wing lying around from an old fujmi kit and I think I'll go with that - it just needs shortening a little.
It's got to be an improvement on the kit wing

got up this moring and started to work on my hatch as while mostly alot of paint detail work , thought i would take a break for a while and seen this , and ITS LOOKING SWEET , I should have done this to my civic , keep up the alsome work , , and those wheels fill the body kit great , cant wait to see it done , later David

Much much to report - progress is slow as I've been trying to tidy up the bodywork and get everything to flow together.Currently it looks like this

Pictures of the Civic now sprayed up in Renault pearlescent black automotive paint & clearcoated - just need to leave it to cure for a couple of days and then I can polish it out.Decided to get rid of the rub strip as it looked a bit odd imo and also filled in the tailgate.

Just a quick post as there has been a bit of progress on the Civic :-
1.Paint polished out
2.Front & rear lights fitted - I decided not to use the custom rear lights as they didn't seem to fit too well - also having trouble with fitting the glass :frown:
Interior with probably have purple inserts as all black won't be very interesting - will keep you posted

I usually use Halfords acrylic automotive paint and their clear lacquer
straight from the can.
The finish from the can isn't too important, although the better the clear is applied the less work with the polishing kit. Some I hardly have to polish -some have to spend an hour or so on - alot depends on the weather as I spray outside in the garage

looks like the car i wanted to make, 96 hatch wide body black with pearl blue ghost flames
so sexy

Not much done today except to make a start on the interior - I've had to resort to cutting the glass into four pieces and have managed to install the rear glass ok - progress will probably slow a little now as I'm back at work tommorrow:frown: but will keep you updated

It's Humbrol acrylic 5043 matt - It goes on a bit thick if you try and brush paint it however if you thin it down with water is sprays ok though an airbrush (I've just got a simple Badger 200 but it does the job) and it does give a nice flat finish - can you get Humbrol paints in the US? - I guess Tamiya Color acrylic X-16 might be a bit easier to get hold of.
