Radio Code

:bloated: I just got a 1994 Geo Metro, but the radio does not work. The theft-deterrent system has frozen the radio up, but the procedure in the manual doesn't work--I don't even have the code. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this problem without taking it to the dealer. I don't want to spend much money, nor do I have any. Just wonderin'.

Did you ever resolve the code problem?

I made the same purchase of a Delco radio from the wrecking yard for my GEO, which had the radio removed.

:1zhelp: I'd like to keep the factory radio installed because it fits, but if I can't use it then I have to get an after market radio.

Thanks,

I have a 95 metro with a delco am/fm cassette player. My battery cable came loose and I lost power to the car. I've tried everything to get the radio unlocked. I tried taking the fuse out to no avail. I tried taking the neg battery cable off. To no avail. I finally called the chevy dealer and they told me to bring the car in and they would unlock it. I called another chevy dealer and he asked me if the car was boughted there and I said no. He told me that every dealer has their own radio codes. He did tell me how it's unlocked. You use a code which they only know and it's done like setting the lock. The buttons that you use to set the clock is the ones you use to unlock it. He said that you have to set the 4 digits to all 0's. Then you put in a code. I told him that I used the yr of my car and that I used the last 4 digits of my vin number but none of them worked. He told me not to do that or I would wind up putting the radio in a unopt mode and it would then take longer to unlock. He said that they then would have to pull codes from the radio first. Then used the regular codes. He said that the dealer that sold the car would have the codes to it. So I will see when I go tomorrow. My dealer said they would do it at not charge. Maybe this will help you.
