Exhaust for Greddy Kit

I've been debating on what exhaust to get when I put on a GReddy turbo kit (~6 psi intercooled). My concerns are noise, rust, and power. I want it to sound good but quiet. I don't want it to rust fast due to the salt and sand they put on the roads in the winter (MN). And I want it to be adequate for the turbo kit.

My main two choices right now are between the GReddy Evo and the Mugen twin-loop muffler. I know that bigger is not always better, but would the Mugen be insufficient for the turbo kit?

do you whant to put just a muffler or a complete cat back?

anyway i bet borla makes something for your car they are just great. also make sure you have abot a 3 inck exaust. the bigger the exaust the happier the turbo will be.

The best kit is Thermal Research 3". I have a copy of Turbo magazine and they did tests on a supra of the top 10 exhaust systems. Thermal research was the best, and not the most expensive. It runs around 600 dollars, but they were doing tests on one that were 800+ dollars!

I've heard that the Thermal is loud. Carreview ratings are mediocre. Bigger isn't better but what size is optimal for this setup? 3" sounds big but I haven't tried it. I don't really like how the Thermal looks. Has anyone had experience with them? What do you think of the quality? I'm leaning towards the Mugen. Mufflers are usually the biggest restriction on an exhaust and Mugen is the best brand for Honda. The sound is supposed to sound excellent. Any comments on the Mugen, Evo, or Thermal?

Anymore input would be appreciated,

yeah bigger is better. the less backpresure the happier the turbo will be.

and just geta straight trough muffler that will be as unrestrictive as you can get. Magnaflow makes some very good ones.

It would be better but he doesn't want anything loud.
Lets just face it, the less restrictive an exhaust is the louder it gets. The only exception is these companies that do years of research and then charge out the ass for their product.

BTW most people with turbo run straightpipe, because the turbo in itself muffles the exhaust. So any exhaust with a muffler will be decently quiet, and again I recommend Thermal Research 3" for your application. I don't know what your definition of "loud" is, but it won't be like ear piercing loud even with straightpipe. And also, are you running a Cat. converter? This also quiets the exhaust some too.

I plan on using the stock cat. Loud in my definition -- well I'd like it to be quiet as in just a little louder than stock. I don't want to have it drone on the highway or have to talk over it.

Also, what about a custom exhaust? Are brand name cat-backs typically engineered better than most people can build them?

With the stock cat, the thermal research exhaust will be quiet. Trust me, like I said-the turbo itself muffles exhaust quite a bit -add the stock cat and any muffler and you're going to be almost as quiet as stock.

Unless you go to a place that charge out the ass for custom exhaust, it's going to suck and fall apart. You get what you pay for kind of thing with exhaust shops.

If you plan on running low boost a 2.5" exhaust will do fine. the greddy evo is what i run. Hell i run it on my built gsr motor, with a T4 60-1. The greddy exhaust has held for 2yrs, no problems thru 2 different motors.
