I dunno, after freezing rain I have like a cm deep layer of ice all over my car and it never does anything (unless you scrape the paint trying to get it off), but that much ice would be a lot heavier...I dunno

that's true. that ice storm that hit here a while back coated my car with at least 2-3 cms of ice, and my paint is rollered on, with no primer, and even that didn't come off of the car when i was chipping away the ice. hopefully none got down through that vent into the engine of the 911.

I suppose if you applied enough heat to melt the Ice it'd come off with no real damage

I guess where there'd be damage is anyplace the water got in and then expanded when it froze.. That could be sunroof drains and such.

Yeah repost, I could not find the link but I think the story was the upper level house caught on fire and the fire sprinkler system doused the garage.
Considering the vehicles in there I would say they were lucky.

poor porsche... AAA approved my ASS! :D
Also, Jimster... not sure if you know this or not, but putting a lot of heat on ice (IE really hot water) is just as bad for paint as scraping ice off... you wanna use room temp/cool water. If it's running, it's warmer than the ice. Going from cold to hot really fast like that plays HELL on paint. That's the same reason you wanna use slightly warm water on a car when you're washing in the winter... you try to match the temp of the car. :) just a tidbit.

... and I can't really tell... but that VW is either on airbags to get that low, or the ice really hit it hard. Looka the back wheel. :(
