2001 Accord brake pads last 3000 miles???

I bought my 2001 Accord V6 sedan in Laredo, Tx. about a 18 months ago. Drove it home (Oaxaca, Mexico, exactly 1000 miles south of the border). Put 11,000 miles of easy aroundtown driving, mostly, in a little over a year. Drove back to Laredo (all superhighway) and when I got there the front brakes were completely shot. Replaced the rotors and pads at the Laredo dealer, drove home again, being especially easy on the brakes. 16,500 miles, the brakes were gone again. The local Honda dealer said 3000 miles was normal life. 20,000 miles, the brakes are worn out again. Back at the dealership, they pointed to a sign painted on the wall: change oil at 5000km, filters at 10000km, etc. and a new line saying change front and rear pads every 5000km!!??
I am very easy on brakes: right foot brake with left foot planted on the floor, downshift going down hills, etc. I have never owned a car before that needed new pads in less than 30000 miles (Jeep Cherokee, VW Jetta, Chevy Caprice, Ford E150 were the last four).
WTF is going on?
At this rate, if I keep the car for 150,000 miles (my sister's 1996 Accord has 205,000) I will have spent $9000!!!! just on brake pads.
The dealer swears that the 3000 miles per set of pads is normal for an Accord. Somebody please tell me he's putting me on, and suggest what could be causing my brakes to wear out so fast. Thanks.

Sound like BS to me. I don't know about Accords but I drove 40k miles on the pads I bought it with before needing to change em and never warped rotors either.

try taking it to another dealership and see what they have to say about it. 3000 is way too short for the life of brakes, especially the rotors. if worse comes to worse, just replace the stock brakes with aftermarket rotors and pads. it may cost more at first, but it will save you money in the long run.

I have seen a 01 accord needing front/rear pads&rotors with only 12,000 miles on it. Most cases brakes pads are lasting 20-45,000 on the newer accords. We usually see the rear disc go before the front since they have a smaller pad. there was another car that had 80,000 miles still running original pads & rotors with 40% wear. Its how & where you drive.
