1st gen crx enigne swap

Okay, my audio shop just got a first gen crk that doesn't run. My friend just picked up a 2 gen crx that came with three d15 engines. Can i swap just the engine into the first gen crx? I am not talking about everything, can i keep the intake manifold and carb from the first gen and still attach it the the d15 or will this not work and i will need to do the entire engine swap? Any help guys? What about the stock tranney in the 1 gen, will it match up to the d15?

1st gen CRX has totally different motor mounts. Your best bet would be to get a D16A1 from a 86-89 Integra. It bolts right in with no problems.

I agree. Or if he has the money. I'd swap a b16 in that bitch! Hasport makes the mount kits for them. Shit that'll be a low 14 sec already!!:D

Hmmm.... Does the EW1/2/3 run different mounts to the D series engine??? The reason I wonder is that the JDM Si CRX ran a ZC which is actually a D series running D series mounts. In as much that a ZC will bolt in (got a friend who did it). Now if the ZC is interchangable between an 2nd gen Aussie/JDM CRX Si and an 4th gen Aussie GL Civic (D15B)/USDM 4th gen as a straight swap, why won't the D series replace the EW?

There's prolly a flaw in my logic somewhere and personally, I'd be buying a JDM Si 1st gen front clip and dropping the ZC in or putting a custom mounted B16A in, but I'm wondering why it wont work. Maybe you need the JDM ZC mounts to bolt it in?

Anyway, just a question - personally, I reckon that going to a D15 is a waste of time.

USDM 1st gen CRX shares platform with 1st gen Acura Integra, which have totally different motor mounts than the 2nd gen Integra, 3rd gen civic, and 2nd gen CRX, as well as all other hondas for that matter. A JDM ZC will not bolt into either cars, just as the D16A1 wont bolt into our cars.

Oh ok. Our 1st gen Integras came with the ZC, we didn't get the 1st gen CRX and our 3rd gen Civic came with either an EW1 or EW2 12 valve. The JDM Si ZC does bolt in though, as does the 'tegs ZC. Must be a slightly different engine bay layout to yours.

This is going to be an extrem audio car so speed doesn't matter. All that it needs is for the car to run while driving into and out of the lanes. So an engine out of a 1 gen teg will work. Does the trannies match up?
