It's not a kill story but hey it's driving realated....
Anyways so I'm driving with mom this morning and I get bitched at the intire way to school. Forst off I'm stuck in this BIGA** GMC Saburban. It's not a god awful truck but it's huge. Worst thing about it it's slow and the front suspision needs replacing so it goes bouncy bouncy alot. Anyways leaving the nieghbor hood and it starts.....I'm a stop sign and get ready to get out on the road and what do I hear. "YOUR ROLLING THROUGH A STOP SIG YOU CAN GET A TICKET FOR THAT". I'm sittingthere like I'm getting ready to go how is that rolling. Then I get to a intersection turning through it and I hear "YOUR GOING TO FAST!" and I'm rolling through it at like 15. It's just goes on and on. The worset part is I take my test in like 3 weeks and few days. So I know she is just gonna make me drive more and more. But I hate it cause All she does is bitch and yell. I don't about you but it is awfly hard to pay attention when yor pissed cause the passenger wont stop yelling. Anyone else have this same experience or had a parent that you HATED to drive with but couldn't do anything about it ? Don't want it to sound like a bitching post but I wanna know if anyone can give me some advice or share some stories of screaming, yelling, panicing or down right bitching parents ?

Did you just start driving? Cuz when I first started driving my parents were like that. Actually my dad was the easy going one and then my mom was the bickering one. Then about 3 months till i turned 16 they flip flopped and my mom was easy going and my dad was going insane. Their just not use to you driving yet, and it freaks your mom out that you can already drive.
P.S.-Dont ever brake check someone with your parents in the car.....they'll chew your ass out from end to end.

All I can say is listen to her advice. She'll calm down. You'll not escalate the arguement and you might learn something you hadn't before. Worked for me all those many moons ago.

Yeah I'd have to agree with most saying that my dad was pretty laid back when he took me driving my mom on the other hand was completely mental she wouldn't stop picking out little things and the more she talked the more I messed up but thats changed now since I am a better driver then her, she doesn't like to drive in the snow she just gets me to do it for her sometimes.

My mom really doesnt care what I do when I drive; She just asks me to go not too fast, and not to do ebrake turns. But, she knows I do them, but doesnt really mind. Drunk driving is a no-no though (as it should be). But, shes cool with everything (she let me drive at 14, ferchristsakes).
My dad is the one who is the back seat driver; always has been, always will be. He will complain, tell you how fast to go, how far to follow, when to shift, when to cruise, etc....pretty much the most annoying guy. He'll also make a loud and obvious "whoosshsh-aahhhhh-hissss" type sound, sounding very afraid, if you do something he perceives as slightly dangerous.
Oh well, I dont have to drive with him much. On the plus side, he does it to everyone:eek:

When Iwas learning to drive,my Dad was the pits.He would ride with one hand on the handbrake, yelling instructions like a drill sergeant.I guess that's the way that he was taught stuff,so I can't really blame him.Eventually,I got tired of it and started going for lessons with a proffesional driving instructor. His car was in much better shape than ours, which made it a lot easier to control, and he had a set of dual controls that he would use rather than yelling like a madman. He taught me a hell of a lot about the art of driving that my father never could, and Ibreezed the test first time.If you want good driving instruction, pay a professional. If you think you can get by with 'lessons' from your parents,it won't cost you anything, but you'll pick up all of their bad habits along the way.Next time she's behind the wheel, just watch out for errors. If she breaks the rules, tell her so.see how she likes it.:)

My dad was pretty bad, my mom was sweet when I was learning to drive. My mom only got bad when she was in the back seat. I really learned to drive from my parents, but then took lessons from a professional instructor to work out any bad habits, and I breezed through the test first time too :)

My Mum was awesome to learn to drive with- Very cool, calm and collected- also I got to drive her (Then) new 3 series Beemer- so it was win-win there- but my dad was an asshole when it came to driving-he paniced and yelled and wouldn't shut up- One time I even told him to get out and walk home :D
but yeah I'd say that you should just listen to your mum- she always knows best.....................Or is that always right.....................I can't remember:o

If you decided you would "gun" my car then I'd kick you out on the street faster than you could say moron.
Gun your own car- but when you are driving your mothers car what she says goes

My brother and parents let me drive whin I was 12-13 It was manily my brother. then when I was 14 I could ask for the keys and they would be like ok (we lived on a dirt road ) once when I was askin about how my dads truck handles he was like here try it out . My parents are like frekin cool .
p.s. do a power break at your stop sing (make shure that there are no cops or youll get a ticket) doing that should eather scare the shizit out of your mom and make her shut up or make it to where you will never drive your moms car again . good luck on your test

my mom refused to drive with me when i had my learner's permit, if that gives you any indication of how sketchy she was. even now when i drive with my dad, he stills warns me that i'm speeding if i'm only doing 10km over the limit, or if the cars are stopping ahead, or he tells me if i'm braking too late. it wasn't annoying when i actually had my permit, but now that i'm fully licensed, it annoys the hell out of me.

i cant stand the whole 'your braking to late' thing.
or when there is a car parked on the side of the road and you have to drive around it. the other day i did that and was going 'too fast' i turned 'too quickly'. maybe they expect me to drift into the other lane about 100 feet before the car and merge back 100 ft after the car just so i dont 'turn to fast'

my dad tried explaining his viewpoint to me the other day, and i can understand where he's coming from. he says when you're in the passenger seat, and you're so used to driving, and you don't have a brake pedal or a steering wheel, everything the driver does feels too early or too late or too fast or too slow. i noticed this too because i was in the passenger seat with him the other day (for the first time in a long time) and noticed how late he seemed to brake. but when i got in my car and drove the next day, i started braking at exactly the same point.

You're a stop sign? :bloated:
Think about it this way for a second...she's letting an inexperienced teenager control a 2-ton vehicle, which costs a good deal of money, with a sloppy "suspision", that has the potential to cause millions of dollars in damage, and even kill someone. Of course she is going to be nervous. Besides, if you're rolling through stop signs WHEN YOUR PARENT(S) ARE IN THE CAR, what kind of hazard will you be when they're not? This thread scares me, and not just because of the grammar.
When I was learning to drive, my dad took me up in the hills, so I could learn to drive stick on them. I wasn't allowed to drive auto at all until I had mastered the manual. We went out on this deserted, hilly road about 15 miles long, and would just practice starts using the clutch only - no gas - until I had that mastered....then we practiced shifting, and eventually went in traffic. Both of my parents were easy to drive with, but that's because I took the responsibility seriously and did my best.

it's called the friction zone... learn to use it. :p :right: ;)
As for the whole "careless driving" bit... Yeah, driving is NOT a right. Your parents are ALLOWING you to drive, so I'd go ahead and keep an ear open. Sure, they get on your nerves b/c you are ALWAYS right at this age. ALWAYS. Just listen to them even if it's just stored away for a MUCH later day. They have been driving for longer than you've been alive... I think they might, just might, know a lil something (regardless of how entirely IRRITATING they may be).

1st, it was a 1991 Dodge Spirit w/ a relatively torquey 2.5-liter.
2nd, let off the clutch really, really, really, really slowly and gradually.
It was harder in my Sentra, but I was able to take off in 1st, 2nd, w/ no gas, and 3rd, and 4th w/ gas. :bloated:

(Wife)"WELL DON'T LOOK AT ME! I DON'T USE IT!"

My Dad has those STUPID ASS old ppl. pads that help is old back and ass.....I don't know what they're called, but when I sit in the drivers seat I have NO ROOM!!!!! for my gigantic ass to fit in there, and even when I pull that shit out, it doesn't help.
I don't know, I just don't feel comfortable in that car at all, it's just all wrong for me, there's not enough leg room, and I have to put my foot at a wrong angle, and to use the clutch I kinda have to hover it over the clutch, instead of putting the heel on the floor.
I don't know, maybe I'm just fucked for standard. Also, if I had my brother teaching me standard, it would be a LOT easier to get taught, since he doesn't fly off the handle like my Dad does. *SHRUG*
It doesn't help that my ankle (right) was broken, fractured, and dislocated, a few years ago, and I have to have alot of leg room to move my foot around or it starts to fuck up on me. EX. It'll start throbbing, and aching if I don't move it around every once in a while, and waiting for my stupid ass left foot to engage the clutch doesn't help either.
BTW....the reason I keep it at a bent angle (right ankle) is that I don't wanna start revving the engine before I start engaging the clutch. Can't really hold it in one spot for a long time either......yes I'm QUITE messed up. *shrug*
One day'll I'll just "STEAL" the VW and learn by myself, then pay my Dad for a new clutch because it'll prolly. be blown out. :D

Later!

first of all your mother is right, you do not roll at stop sign!
You slam the brakes until she kisses the windshield and then you slam the acceleration to see how she can be glued to the seat.
After a few of those treatments I don't think she will judge or have oppinions anymore.
She won't dair to look at the car anymore.
Hope this helps
