NA or turbo

When I get my RX-7 should keep it na or should I put turbo in it?.:confused:

get a turbo to start with.

Since everybody says I should get turbo.My next quistion is GREDDY or HKS?:)

Um, no. Everyone is saying you should get a factory turbo Rx-7.

The N/A's don't handle aftermarket turbos aswell.

Yeah. Get a turboII to start, THEN replace the turbo with an HKS T04b. :)

But before you get the bigger turbo, upgrade the fuel system.

There is no other choice but to put a GT3540 turbo on it. best turbo for a 13B.

er...no. I'd love to see an old 13bt handle 22 pounds without popping. There's a lot of work to be done before you make those kinds of numbers. Even with a 13b-REW

That turbo take about a half hour to spool too

get a turboII, upgrade ur pressure regulator, get a new fuel pulsation damper and drop in a t3 turbo, and try mounting the stock intercooler in the front next to the driver side head light, you know what i mean. in that corner area behind the front bumber, just be sure to remove the piece of metal cover from the back of the intercooler so that air can freely flow through, this actually works very well, especially if u dont want to spend the bux on a legit front mount.
it wouldn't hurt to put in a boost controller, but go with a manual one, the electronic ones are not accurate they're just cool. if u run boost at a cool 11-12pounds for daily driving you'll have a ton of fun.
i have run this setup for several ppl so far and all have given me positive feedback and all were satisfied. of course don't forget a full free flowing exhaust such as the one from Racingbeat.com
if u dont plan on going with a fully built engine then i think you would like a set up like this

All the cool parts the Turbo II has from the factory (better suspension, transmission, 4.33 rear ratio etc) but no turbo!

I have a suggestion as well, I have owned an 88 GTU in the past, but I had to get rid of it. I just purchased an 86 GTU for $300 the other day from a body shop. I'm going to go ahead and drop the Turbo II engine in mine. I was thinkin' about the REW 3rd gen engine, but I know I will eventually do a single turbo conversion so it would be much more of a hassle. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are looking for an RX7, more than 90% of the time, unless the owner has just taken exceptional care of the engine and has somewhat of a lower mileage, you are going to have to rebuild, or buy a rebuilt engine for the car, so if you can find a good deal on an RX7 with maybe a blown motor, it may be worth your while just to buy a rebuilt turbo II motor and drop it in. Unless you can just find a turbo II deal that you can't resist, because there are a lot of cosmetic goodies that come with the turbo II that the n/a's don't have, like the tail lights and the hood scoop for one or two examples, but those can easily be put on the n/a body too. I just bought a 87 na and the motor is shot, only has 108 thou mi on it. in great shape, just the engine wont start, burns oil. anyway, i am going to just buy a new motor for her and of course i want to put the turbo II in. can i just bolt the 86-88 13bt in? what about the 89+ turbo engine in? im sure id have to do a few mods for it, can some one fill me in? also anyone know where the good engines are, thanks a bunch.

89+ should be a direct fit, you will want the turbo hood though, it doesn't have the scoop for nothin :)

personally I prefer NA just because they are cheaper and more reliable, and I have one haha. I would love a turbo if I had the money to maintain it

um... rotary engines are supposed to burn oil... most likely it's something like a blown apex seal, lots of people forget about those.
