I was told my rack and pinion needed to be replaced 216kmiles on my car) it was hoisted up and I was shown how it was crying out power steering fluid on both front tires. Thing is a never heard any clanking noise as I drove or really any swaying while I drove. In any event I just had it replaced today. Anything I should look out for to tell if it was done right? I paid 300 big ones and I like to know what exactly for.

Make sure the steering wheel is straight and the car doesn't pull one way or the other. An alignment should have been performed after the rack was installed. Other than that just make sure the fluid is full and there are no leaks. The racks can go bad, usually seals wear. It's cheaper to replace the rack than take it out and reseal it.
