some people started it b/c it runs in the family, following the crowd, try something new.....why did u start??
me personally it started when i had my NX2000..thought i was going to do some mods to it but my engine blew and i got rid of it....but it picked up when i got my hatch....i thought i was going to go for straight-line speed but i realized i love curves too much and constanly push the limits of my car in turns...so now i'm more into setting up my suspension and tires than modding my engine (i need another one actually :( )

I've done it ever since my first piece of crap college car...I put on different hubcaps and tinted the windows. Personalization was the key for me.
With all of my cars, I approach modifications in three levels: 1. Looks - I like to immediately try to make my car look a little different from all the other same models driving around town. Individuality is important for me. I always like style to be subtle, but still distinguishable, sort of like something the factory might release for a special edition. Once that is taken care of, I go to 2. Performance - enhance the intake and exhaust to milk a bit more performance out of the car, better rims, lower profile tires, and revised suspension tuning to help handling and high speed stability, etc. The final stage is 3. Fine Tuning - Once I have done all the mods, I look for little things to adjust to make it better, in either looks or performance.
I just never like to follow!
