part name?

i just bought a 87 crx si (94k miles) and the guy before my friend did something of some sort to the area where the speedometer cable goes into the trans. so my question is if i go to autozone, oreilly's, koi, etc. what part should i tell them i need? cable is brand new, i just have no clue what the part it goes into is called so i cant exactly replace what i cant find. thanks for any help.

I'm assuming you need the speedometer sender and clip. A picture of the "something of some sort" will help identify the problem.
