Passat 2000 stopped working

I decided to check the cable on the ABS controller to see if I could solve my ABS beeping problem. I unplugged the cable and started the car. When I plugged the cable back in, the car would no longer start. Doesn't crank, but all lights are on as normal. Fuses look good. Any ideas?
