Hazards flash when door opened with key Audi A4 Quatro

When I open the door with the key (and not the remote) the hazards flash continuously until I get out, shut the door and operate the remote. If I lose the remote fob I will not be able to stop the flashing will I?

Have you programmed your key by inserting it into the ignition and then pressing your remote for a few seconds until the hazarsd flash once? It worked for me.
