My new car's first kill...

Well, my SE-R finally got one under its belt.
Yesterday morning, as I was pulling in to park here at school (where I'm posting from, obviously), I saw that this red '91 Prelude is parked next to me. I know this car, because I had raced him before on the way to school with my last car (R.I.P.), the Civic, and beat him with it. The Prelude had some rims, exhaust, intake, plug wires, and a few other goodies. Knowing that my bone-stock SE-R is already faster than my fixed-up Civic ever was, I knew that I should be able to take the 'Lude.
As I get out and get my bag out of the trunk, I saw the owner and his roommate (who happens to be in one of my classes) standing next to the 'Lude. Just for shits and grins, I looked at them and said "hey, I'll race you with my bone-stock Sentra". They looked at me like I had lost my mind...owner kinda smirked and said, "sure I'll race ya", with a shit-eating grin. Cool.
Anyhow, I talked to the owner's roomie in class, and he told me "man, that thing pulls, you'll just get embarassed"...referring to the 'Lude. I then proceeded to educate him on the merits of the SR20 motor that is in my car. He didn't seem convinced.
So, as I started driving home with a (hot;) ) female schoolmate I am carpooling with, chance has it that 'Lude boy and his roomie is right behind me in traffic. I just had that feeling that the dude was going to try and show off if we get a break in traffic, and I told my passenger as much. She said, "go for it!" since she herself wanted to see what my new car can do (did I mention that she's HOT:devil:? ).
Sure enough, homeboy was in a playful mood, cutting in and out of traffic, while I just cruised...there was a lot of traffic. Well, even with his driving antics, he only ended up directly in front of me. I knew then that when traffic breaks, this fool would go for it, and I'd punch it too for few seconds, just to see if my assumptions were right (His 'Lude<My old Civic<My Sentra).
The break in traffic came, with the lane to our rights opening up, with no traffic ahead for about a half-mile. 'Lude boy downshifts and guns it, coffee-can screaming in anguish. I downshift to second, and follow suit (remember, he had the jump in acceleration). Sometime in third gear, a few seconds later, I actually had to let-off, because I was afraid I'd rear-end them (they were still accelerating). I hopped on the gas after a second of pause, and proceeded to go around them.
We get to the part where I turn right onto the freeway onramp where I always exit...and so do they. I thought it was perfect, because while merging, there's two lane for about an eight of a mile, more than likely allowing us to get an extended run. I notice that they decided to go straight:o. I rolled my window (theirs was down) and looked over to them and said "c'mon man, let's do this...freeway!" Driver just looked at me kinda meekly and said "nah, man I gotta go this way..." which I knew to be a lie, unless he changed driving routes all of a sudden.
Funniest part is, this morning, while riding with my carpool (we take turns driving), we started talking about the race and she tells me that she thought it was so funny...she actually saw a look of fear in their faces...more of an "Oh shit!" look when I loomed large in their rear-view. That sooo made my day.
Don't know what they have to say yet...they're not in school today...seriously.
Edit: Just saw them a few minutes ago during a break. All the dude had to say was: "Wait till I soup up my car", which I proceeded to reply: "my car's stone-stock man, I got room to improve too"...and he walked away.

mmmmmm... Nissan...
mmmmmm... sandwich...
Why do people with Honda Preludes even bother messing with such a supperior automobile as the Nissan Sentra SE-R?
Oh yeah! - they think they're fast! :D (relatively speaking that is)

Actually, I've been doing some research...
Magazine times are at about 15.8-16.1 back in '91-'93. Back in those days, and even now, they don't speed-shift the cars. They just basically test acceleration with "normal" aggressive driving. Good drivers at the track have taken these things in the low 15's stock. Also, I had a friend several years ago that had his SE-R as low as 14.3 with just bolt-ons, weight reduction, and DRs.
Don't forget, it's power-to-weight ratio is almost equivalent to a 1999-2000 Civic Si, with a lot more torque (relatively), and a stock LSD.
Ask KrNxRaCer00, he saw one run at the track with just bolt ons...he said dude was running 14.9-14.6s.
You're right about the 140HP. Curb weight is about 2400LBS.
One last thing, the magazine times and curb weights were taken from fully-optioned cars (power-everything, moonroof). My car's only option is the power mirrors...so is somewhat lighter than the tester cars were.

TIIs can be damned near 3000 lbs... That was one of the nice things about the FD when it came out, the R model was less than 2900...
924 stock weight, 2430lbs... No blower motor, rear seats, AC, etc, 2320lbs...

Mazda likes steel. And by that, I don't mean me. hehe. But I can easily lose a lot of weight if i wanted to. Like, just AC and PS is about 150 pounds give or take for me, and considering they don't work, i might as well take em out. My rims are pretty heavy too (although i love the look of my stock rims). Oh yeah, and my hood is a big motherfarking pice of STEEL! Not alum. like some of the 7's. And the turbo systems and all the crap involved with TII's weight it down. Ah well.

yeup, i was damned surprised. i had the guy pop the hood, an thas all he had. my other frien w/ jus i/e is running 15.2's w/ bad tires.
really, the only problem w/ the se-r's is that they don't have much for top-end. frien ran a 2.1-2 60' all day, but could only pull the 15.2 for his lowest et. (compared to my 2.3+ 60' w/ 14.8 1/4 time)
