98 Cherokee Sport Engine Swap?

Hey gang I was wondering if someone can tell me what all Engines will fit my 98 sport? It has a blown 4.0 in it and I need to know what all years and engines will bolt in to my automatic. Thanks for any info.

call up your local junk yard. they have a cross reference directory and can tell you just what engines will bolt in.

Blown how? If it's just the short block then what we did is went with the HO short block from a 94. Everything on the fuel injection is all top end and stays uneffected.

Lessone learned the hard way tho, while you have the donor block out, replace the darn oil filter adapter gasket! :banghead:

Oh this thing had a piston that blew in half and tore up everything from the block to the head!! I mean it disentigrated lol! Shame to it only had 110,000 on it hell my sisters 96 has 250,000 still goes like new lol

I'd be curious to see the ferensic report on how that happened. Unless very carelessly maintaned, these things are like the Chuck Norris of engines? :lol2:

Thats exactly what i was saying these are a tough engines cant believe only 110,000 on it but its true! It was my neighbors and he changed oil EVERY 3000 and maintained it all well! Guess its like anything when u get a good 1 u get a good 1 but u get a bad 1 then its bad lol. It looks like if u look at the top of whats left of the piston a valve has smacked it and blown it apart! When i get a chance I will post pictures of it.
