hi
just got this kit from ebay other day, and wonder has anyone got the later instructions for this model, regarding painting the blue colour?
http://static.hlj.com/images/tam/tam24093box.gif
i already have the original instructions and the large decal sheet with a lot of blue decals as it was originally released back in 1990, im hoping i wouldnt have to use the decals which would probably be a nightmare to apply, but paint the blue instead.
i wondered if Tamiya re-released the Nissan in the 2000's as they did with the other kit i have - 24079 Minolta Toyota 88C-V originally released in 1989 and was re-released in 2002 with new smaller decal sheet, and for the blue colour, a masking template is included.
http://static.hlj.com/images/tam/tam24079box.gif
i suppose the blue colour would have been applied by decals originally as my Nissan, now the blue colour is painted according the instructions, which is X-14:5 + X-4:1.
i would be greatful if anybody could send me a copy (or a scan) of the later instruction sheet (if theres one) with the painting details.
sorry if its a bit long winded but any help would be appreciated.

I do not have a direct answer to your question but I would use a scan of the decal sheet to create a masking template.

Hi..
I think you're confusing this with the Hasegawa kit... I have new and old releases of the Tamiya kit and both have the blue as decal.....
The Hasegawa kit has no blue decal, only the red stripes.
The instructions - http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10088090 - recommend using Gunze H15 Bright Blue.
Hope this helps

I've built the Tamiya Minolta 88C-V back in 1989. It never had decal for the blue area; the masking template was in the instructions back then.

hi
i wasnt confusing with the Hasegawa kit, just comparing with other Tamiya release, and was hoping they released it with a smaller decal sheet and painting instructions.
When was your newer kit released?
as for paints, its gotta be only Tamiya paints as i dont get Gunze range of paints here in the UK

oh, i thought cos the building instructions is from 1989, and the decals is from 2002, and a single instruction sheet for masking and painting from 2002
ok, thanks for the help guys

If you want Gunze paints in the UK, MDC do them.

Bob Brown runs MDC and is very helpful.

Will you be spraying from a rattle-can or with an airbrush? Unfortunately, Tamiya doesn't have a good match in the sprays. TS-15 is too dark and TS-44 Brilliant blue too bright. Testors has a pretty good match in their enamels if they are available to you.

The Hasegawa instructions recommend using Gunze H15 Bright Blue.
according to the colour charts, its equivalent to Tamiya X-4, which i have plenty off that i can airbrush it
paintwise, only Tamiya, Humbrol and Revell are sold in most UK stores

KRYLON True Blue is a perfect match. If that is not available in England I would check your available Halford brand colors. Try to match the box art not the decals(they tend to be too dark) Scan the decal sheet for a masking guide. Tamiya's X-4 is too dark and not vibrant(vivid) enough and the Acrylics are not very sturdy paint for polishing.

Which model do you want the instructions for? I have the new Minolta 88C-V instructions scanned onto my computer if that's what you need.
