I have a 2001 chev silverado 5.3L. I went out to start it tonight and wouldnt turn over not even a try. I replaced the battery about a month ago. I have 12.4 volts at my battery. When i turn the key to start it the light on the radio goes out. when I turn the headllights on and try to start it it doesnt affect them at all they stay bright. if I turn on the windshield wipers and try to start it the wipers turn off. I dont know if this would be the starter since it doesnt seem to be taking the headlights down. could it be the solonoid? I didnt want to get under the truck and check the starter tonight to damm hot out. So i figured I would see what anyone would think it might be. usually when ive had a starter problem it draws the headlights right down. thanks for any help!!

You might have a wire that has come disconnected from the solenoid to the starter.

Sounds like the old common problem of the battery cables not making good contact.
A quick fix but temporary, is to rotate the cables where they bolt onto the battery..
That can clean it enough to get it going.
But the cable ends really need to be cleaned properly.

Hey i've already experience that with my car, i don't know what happened why it doesn't want to start, I've already check some parts but nothing change so i decided to bring my car to the mechanics and to find out it was just a wiring that was un-attached to the solenoid down to the main starter. Try to check that one. Maybe you have the same error. Hope it will work.

I have another question. My windshield wipers on high speed dont seem to be going as fast as they use to. Is this the wiper motor problem or the switch problem?

thanks

if anything it would be a wiper motor problem, but check and make sure your getting enought voltage to the wiper motor.

try adding a ground wire to the wiper motor. chevy is good about grounds being bad after a time.
