It has severe mudingitius.

Do you think that a horn out of an old VW would work? Not that I'm a deadhead or anything, my dad has one in a box in his garage. I was helping throw junk away and HEY! :smoka:

Should work fine.

My hornhas sounded like a frog farting ever since the last trip to CC. It's a wonder I passed inspection. Seriously...it's damn pathetic sounding.

:p

Any 12V horn should do just fine. Me, I went with airhorns after not being happy with the junkyard Caddy horn I got for $5.

I got a twin-horn setup and mounted them behind my grille pointing right at the "mesh" so there's nothing muffling the sound. The horns are too long to mount horizontally for best projection, but I did manage to mount them facing forwards. The shorter (high-tone) is at about a 20 degree down-angle behind the top "mesh" row, the other closer to 30 I guess behind the bottom row. I separated them and fabbed up my own little brackets that bolt to the radiator support, with the rear ends of the horns in the space between it and the top of the A/C condenser just barely touching the actual radiator fins. I should take some pics. I'm pretty good at removing my grille at this point ;)

I did discover one problem with mounting them near horizontal. When it's snowing, the snow gets up into the horn and freezes, clogging it. If I shut down the engine for a few minutes, the heat from the radiator melts it again though.

My Hella airhorn compressor is near the battery and the airhorns are in front of the radiator! Worth the $32 to get the attention of the inattentive morons on cell phones!!!! I have pics if you need them, (not of morons but the airhorn location).

Didn't mean to start a new thread :bloated:

Actually, I'm thinking air horns too. $35 bucks, that's not too bad. and it will keep my wife from ripping me about my Xterra with the pussy horn!
