I just put a b16a in my 91 civic DX hatch and I have some questions if anyone could answer. Is my dashboard going to shake forever or will it settle down after a while ? what are some good suspension kits for this car? What are some good mods to make first to obtain more power ( flywheel,headers,etc)? Lastly, does anyone know what two quick flashes is on the computer, I think it might be o2 sensor?

Well the shaking... get used to it cuz it's not going away... its called POWER.

It's the urethane bushings bro.

O2 Sensor is 1 flash... as far as I know.

For a desent suspension setup... Keeping in mind I don't know what kind of driving you do or your budget I would recomend for an Inexpensive Daily driver setup

- KYB AGX shocks
- H&R Sport Springs
- Front and Rear Strut Towers
- Si SwayBars (front and Rear)
- 15" wheels with a good quality 195/50R15 tire (IE Pirelli P7000)

this SHOULD run you under 1G (not including wheels & tires) other than that this is a good starting point.

I would suggest jdm header and type r flywheel along with either custom cat back or go thermal, dc or borla.

so is there anything I can do to make it stop shaking so much? I realize it is alot more power but my mech. said that the poly bushings mold to fit and that they eventually settle.

Well u can't stop it. I got HCP 4 mount kit. It doesn't shake as bad. :)

just gotta get used to the vibration man. ;)

I've put 2K+ miles on mine and:

-- The steering wheel shakes like crazy at idle

-- Everything shakes a little at idle

-- At 4-5K RPM it sounds like a bee is trapped in the rubber seal around the passenger side rear window

-- Leaving coins in the ashtray is a no-no

-- Opening the sunroof alleviates some of the vibration

When you modify your car, you are replacing the manufacturers design goals (low NVH, comfortable ride, reliability, etc) with your own (lowered, loud, stiff, hi-revving). Get used to it, you seriously altered your car for better or worse (you will get used to it AND you will love it!).

Suspension: I have ES hyper bushings, ST sways (hits exhaust in rear sometimes), Tokico Blues. I mistakenly reused the stock springs-- the car bounces a little too much. There's a stiffer spring for b16 conversions (what is it?)... Otherwise, the car handles like a go-cart.

I had a 91 STD with old/stock suspension for comparison purposes.

Stock sucks.

But if you find the vibration from the B16 a bit much, I'm not sure how you're going to like a stiff, organ shaking ride... Go to a meet and get a ride in someone's hooked-up car. You might be looking for a Cadillac soon...

PS The poly motor mounts serve 3 purposes: never wear out, very strong and keep engine movement to a minimum (transfers movement to the chassis). In high-power cars, it's not uncommon to break rubber motor mounts on WOT take-offs... they actually 'upgrade' to solid aluminum mounts (ouch!).

best suspension setup....TEIN imported from japan made for the EF version of your car (not the ED).....if you dont wanna shell out that kinda cash i recommend progress auto "swap" springs with an aftermarket shock of your choice ANY other suspension that is not made for your setup WILL OVERLOWER THE FRONT......i have had a few different suspension setups on my CRX and this one BY FAR is the best, my crx has a B18A1 swap and i had GC's with a custom spring rate for my setup with my AGX shocks and those were bouncy as hell, recently changed to the progress auto swap springs and they are the BEST, smooth as hell and offer the stability necessary for our swaps
