I'm looking to see if anybody has put the optional 130amp alternator on over the 105 amp. I want run electric fans and fog lights and maybe some subs in the future and dont want to burn up and get stranded. What I want to know is does the 130 bolt up the same? Do I need a bigger battery? Bigger positive cable? Connectors the same? Any insight would be great. Thanks Tim

the AD130 or the AD105 use the same frame. these new alternators made now can be had with a lifetime warrantee autozone. they are updated with changes made that caused the older versions to fail due to the regulator getting corroded.

adding cooling fans and high powered noise making equiptment will cause the 130amp to get overloaded ..your vehicle uses 65amps normally ..20% safety factor on amps load factor ..

you must have a capacitor at the power amp to control surges ..

The subs will be small, maybe one 12". My main worry is the fans and foglights. I drive backroads and high beams dont cut it, I was looking at some KC daylighters to put on my brushguard. Also thinking about the high and low beam conversion but worried about overloading the factory wiring harness....

if you need more light power on these back roads , install powerful lamps with your own relay and control switch. do not mess with the existing lamps. to replace these lamps/lenses is very expensive and must also be legal. with the lamps I am taking about , you should have no problem seeing ..air craft landing lights work best.

I have the 130amp in my truck. bolts right in, no changes necessary. I dont have high powered lights though so probably dont come close to maxxing the alternator out. I have a sealed box alternator like this DLG1923-16-4 from autozone if you are interested. It is 2 months old, never opened. Its brand new too, not a rebuilt. Message me if interested.
