Hoe do you put this on correctly?

You got all but one thing: the nut goes on the bottom so it doesn't interfere with the tie rod over bumps and while turning. Might want to tighten it up a little more too, the insulators should be a little more "squashed". Other than that, good job!

So, they look squashed enough or too much? Suspension feels tighter(maybe a little stiffer, could just be mental) and the popping noise I use to hear while backing up and turning the wheel sharply seems to be gone.

They look fine, although the upper insulator on the driver side looks like it might be off-center a bit.... might just be the picture. When tightening the nuts, the wheels should be on the ground to avoid misalignment of the insulators, and to keep stress to a minimum. The insulators have a "shoulder" that needs to be centered in the sway bar and in the mount on the lower control arm. If the bolt comes in contact with the mount or the sway bar, you'll hear, or feel it, when your driving.
