91 Skylark Speedometer

Had a intermitent problem with the speedometer, it would sometimes jump to a higher speed than you were moving then drop back to 0, at the same time the odmeter would go crazy I swear I even saw it move backward once.
Was going to go the junkyard cluster route as I have read that the cluster is a problem on these cars. I went out today to pull the cluster to see how hard it is to remove. After I got it out I was looking at it and traced the circuit board traces to the speed input. Just for kicks I cleaned and retensioned the contact pins on the dash connector and cleaned the circuit trace on the cluster. I also reseated the pins on the circuit trace to the speedometer pins.
Put it back together and it works, not sure if all the contact cleaning did it or if moving things around freed up the steeper motor. Hoping it was the cleaning.
Will post back if it gives me problems again.
