Hello I have a 1993 Cutlass Supreme SL. After it warms(about 5 to 10 minutes) up the car begin to run eradically and dies. The RPM's rapidly change from around 1500 to 200 and sometimes just down to zero and stall out. It always starts back up easily one crank does it. Catty is not clogged. It is not throwing any codes. It is still doing this after new spark plugs, fuel injector cleaner and a transmission service. Me and friends are now scratching our heads that why I have come here.

Thank you in advance :D

Welcome to AF, many things can cause this stuck egr, bad iac, low fuel pressure, start of a failing ign module and so on. Does it do the same thing when restarted? How does it run a 45 mph?

The RPM's go nuts and go from 1500 apprx down to 500 and below and dies. It only does it when it warms up it'll do fine cold. It accelerates to that speed very nicely and holds it for about 5 minutes then starts going weird on me. And yes it does the same thing when it is restarted.

Check the fuel pressure for starters, about 37-40 psi at the rail.

OK.....Another thing I didn't add earlier was I bought the car in early June and it ran like a champ. This problem started as a rough idle and progressively became worse. I'm wondering if the prev. owner had replaced the fuel pump and filter but did not change the filter at the pickup I believe it is. :screwy: Also I'm taking it tomorrow to a Chevy Dealer where my brother works I might just have him investigate that and I'll be sure to have him check the pressure at the fuel rail.

********************UPDATE********************

First off all I would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge and using your time to help a complete stranger. I would recommend this site to anyone who has car questions that need to be answered!

The Cutlass is fixed! Turns out at the crank sensor a few wires had melted together and was causing the car to do what it was doing. After $180 and 3 days in the shop it is FIXED!

Thank you agian
