I just got a 95 wrangler has 4 cyl and well a 4 speed that when going to 5th it is like neutral it has all types of rock crawler suspension and updates to locking front diff with switch inside and all just curious if there is a tranny update that eliminates 5th gear or makes it like it is or if I have a major tranny issue about to happen jeep has about a 6in lift and 33's as well all other gears are fine little wobble in tranny and 177k on truck and was told 70k on motor also any other problems known with these wouls be appreciated

6 inch lift and 33's tells me that this Jeep has seen a lot of action. It sounds to me like 5th gear is just gone, as you've said.

The 4 cylinder is very durable, but doesn't make a lot of power. There are numerous threads here about engine swaps - doable but involved - and also threads about modifying the 2.5 (the usual, cam/headers/etc, and using the 4.0 intake)

I don't think the 95 came with a locking front differential - to me that points to more modifications. Hopefully whoever you bought it from gave you a list of what they'd done to it?

no list of mods the posi lock that I thought was a locking front diff is the front axle engagement good time to find out is in a trail lol when you are stuck and it is because you 4wd isn't working what all mods can be do to the 4bangers and what type of gas milages do most avg

I got 17mpg in my 1997 with the 4cylinder - highway, city, in 4LO on the beach, it was always right at 17mpg. I've listed the modifications I know of in my previous post.
