2006 Caravan rear drum brake popping/clicking noise

2006 Caravan SXT with rear drum brake making popping/clicking sound during hard braking at 15mph or slower. Frequency seems same as wheel rotation. Checked tires for embedded objects - nothing. Noise doesn't happen (or can't be heard) at speeds over 15mph. Slight dragging/scaping noise when applying brakes in reverse (only). That part sounds like dust accumulation. Emergency brake rarely used, checked to be sure they're not on. Rear brakes have not been replaced since we bought it new (current mileage 38,800). Brakes work well otherwise. Any ideas what this popping/clicking could be ? Thanks.

Man! these vans all fell from the same tree ( even though I love mine). Try what I did, take off drum(s), brush, and clean assembly with brush, and compressed air, and then if thats not it, try removing the hubcap on the noisy wheel-well, maybe try that first, unless you like working.

06 had rear disk with the ebrake shoes behind the rotor. I would not recommend using compressed air around brake dust!

Id check the caliper mounting bolts and slide pins, make sure there tight and the pins move freely. Check the area where the pads rest on the bracket for excessive wear.

Rear disk brakes are not standard on these vans, I just worked on a 2007 Grand Caravan with rear drum brakes.

Pull them apart and clean them. Never use compressed air. Get a can of brake cleaner and a stiff wire brush.
