speedometer

2003 chev. silv speedometer not working properly,sometimes it moves,most times it doesn't. any suggestions to the cause

Most likely the stepper motor in the gauge. Fairly common problem. Chevy did a voluntary recall on it. If I am correct, had a 5 yr 70k mile limit to it. Can take it in to get the motor replaced or do what I did. I just ended up replacing mine with the whole cluster out of an Escalade, that way I got the trans temp gauge.

This happen to me when I had my 04 Silverado. I though it was just something inside the cluster making it stick, so I took the guage off and couldn't find nothing. Turn out to be the motor when out
