97 blazer 4wd with a/c problems

I have a 97 blazer 4wd 150k
ok, my husband has spent 2 days now changing parts on my truck to fix a/c so I won't be so hot. Well $300 later and a new compressor, evaporator, orifice tube, 3 cans of refrigerant, oil and whatever else got broke in the process, we were wondering if we went ahead and recharged the system, without evacuting first if I will ruin any new parts. I do not have any more money to spend on it until wednesday. Is it ok to wait that long with it empty? Everything is hooked up and ready for the recharge.
btw a mechanic told us he would only charge $40 to install everything and make work but he refused and insists on doing himself, darn male ego!!!!

PLEASE HELP
The system will not work right and may damage new parts unless it is pumped down with vacuum pump.
A pump down removes moisture and air that is a system killer.
Unless you have a good vacuum pump pay someone to pump it down for you.
Then your husband can do his thing on recharging it.
Total charge is 32 oz R-14a
3 12 oz cans is 36 oz.
Do not over charge.
