is the driver's side axle nut one of those that twist opposite of normal? only reason i ask is cuz i have a three foot breaker bar on it and the damn thing won't budge.

Take my word for it, it is conventional:
"Rightsey tightsey, leftsey loosey.."
Get your big-assed cheater pipe, a good socket, and a couple of friends.
Make sure your car is on the ground when you do this, no jack, jackstands, or otherwise. Chock the tires.
Or just go to a shop and have someone hit it with the air impact like I did!

PS-You have used a screwdriver to pry that little tab up, right?

they hammer part of the nut into a notch usually so it doesn't slip, so check that first, then throw on some steelies and put it back on the ground and go at it with a wrench or impact gun.

yeah when i was doing my swap i forget to take out the bend on one of the nuts. it was funny because i just did it tot he drivers side, then i go to the passenger side and i put my socket on and i try to take it off, and my dad comes out and goes did u take out the bend in the nut, i hope u did because u just did it tot he drivers side, i felt pretty stupid. but on another note, i did break 2 screwdrivers trying to get the bend out and straight

How was the nut put on originally? I was stupid and had it put on with an impact whrench and the only way I could get it off was have my mechanic cut it off with a torch. I snapped a brand new 1/2" breaker bar with a six foot extension pipe. Impacts do not work for this situation.

impact gun.....only way i got mine off, bent a 1/2 steel screwdriver in half, bent 3/4 inch crow bar in half.....go impact
Impacts do not work for this situation. you must have a cheap one or something was wrong with it

I agree. It would take a nice impact gun to take that off. To tell you the truth sometimes it doesn't always work but its worth a try. This is what i did. I took the chizel and a hammer and i loosen it up that way. IT really works:)

damn nut! I wrestled around with it for another couple hours, no luck. The only reason i needed it off was to take out the drive axle and remove a bad alternator, instead i just removed the rear motor mount and the alternator slipped right outta there, only had to undo 4 bolts.

i used a 7 foot pipe on the end of my ratchet, and had to jump on it about five times to break mine free...but not before breaking another ratchet :o

Hey, Trailerpark Jake!
I hope it was a craftsman ratchet. At least they'll replace it for free. Even if they have free replacement, that still won't get the nut off. That's when it's time....for SNAP-ON!

PS-I'm still sad I had to sell 99% of my Snap-On tools.
