Wow,
it looks good, but i'm wondering if the quality is similar to Renaissance, having in mind the price...
It seems that this is the car form Rally Bulgaria, i'm form Bulgaria...I would like to have it!
Here are more details:

For those who didn't notice it yet, this is a PLASTIC kit, not a resin one!
Furthermore, the doors can be build in an open position, the front and rear bumper can be taken off, PE included for e.g. grills, real springs for the suspension, and decals are from Cartograph.
Renaissance have already announced the following decalsets for this kit:
TK24/293 - Structo Duval Deutschland 2008 / Latvala Corsica 2008
TK24/294 - Experth, Solberg, monte carlo 2008
They're also considering doing a decalset for the car Francois Duval will use in the coming Rally Deutschland.

Like said in an other thread, it's an all new brand with a kit 100% created by Simil'R guys.
It's a real new brand of plastic kit, no links with Heller or anything else in France.
Model shown on web site is a prototype built with parts from stereolithography (even windows...), and ALPS decals.
Of course result is very far from the production kit, with plastic parts and high quality decals.
Be patient and you will be surprised ;-)
Yes Vitanvk, it's Bulgarian rally.

After theses surprised unveiled, I can add :
- All new pattern for tires
- Cartograf decals with silk printing, offset printing and carbon on the same giant sheet (Near A4)
And after Renaissance I work also on a decal sheet for my new range of products:
- Rossi's Monza Rally show Focus 2009 :iceslolan

this new model seems pretty exciting, but according to the pics, rear wing seems a bit flat and square... :screwy:
Anyway, having a plastic kit will allow modifications better than resin of metal, so if it's the only thing not perfect... :naughty: :p
Other models aren't either, especially Renaissance. :disappoin
So I'm pleased to see this new model and brand, a french one moreover, and I wil buy some Focus soon !!
Hoping the brand will also think to the former evolutions of this focus version as 2006 or 2007 driven by Marcus... :eek7:

Slightly off topic but it seems a bit funny that a French model manufacturer decides to go for the Ford instead of the Citroen. :naughty:
Yes, I suppose the demand is 100:1 for the Ford, though.

Hi Nico,
No apologies please.
Just keep up your good work!
I understand Simil R is not Tamiya or an other major kit company.
Just can't wait to get my hands on one of your kits.
The sprues I have seen are looking great!
Is the Citroën DS3 still in planning for your next kit?

Just got my kit from Domino. Looks very good I must say. Mouldings close to Tamiya quality with Cartograf decals, etch and springs for the shockabsorbers. If Tamiya don't want to bring us any new WRC cars anymore pleas go ahead Simil'R - bring e'm on :-)
Only improvement I can see I will do is some proper seatbelts to replace the decals.

This is brilliant news Bob....will the decals carry the correct flouresence as per the actual car? For example, the strip across the windscreen, 46's etc. For me this is a very important factor in the success of the model.

Finally got mine :grinyes:
Very quick shipment from Belgium, kits (I ordered two) were sent on Friday or Thursday from Belgium and they arrived on next Tuesday :smooch:
Unfortunately another kit has clear parts missing, hopefully just forgot that part frame somewhere, I need to check out every place once more before contacting Domino.
According those earlier photos, quality looked nice at first. Unfortunately after having closer look, things didn't look as good anymore. Casting/molding reminds me more about Heller or Fujimi kits than Tamiya/Hasegawa kits. Overall quality isn't as sharp. But shouldn't forget that SimilR is "green", inexperienced and small, in this business and therefore they've got still a lot of to learn.
Let's have a closer look and ruhless analysis
There is a couple of mistakes, but well, which kit wouldn't have?
Some holes at seats, gonna need some putty. Also detailing of the seats looks too simple.
http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/9064/img8138g.jpg (http://img828.imageshack.us/i/img8138g.jpg/)
Many joints looks too low or they even totally fade which means that some engraving must be done before painting.
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/5737/img8155p.jpg (http://img52.imageshack.us/i/img8155p.jpg/)
Tyre pattern looks good but sides are a little flat?
http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1895/img8162c.jpg (http://img851.imageshack.us/i/img8162c.jpg/)
Ouch, headlamps doesn't fit well, there was such a gap in both kits.
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2863/img8172b.jpg (http://img195.imageshack.us/i/img8172b.jpg/)
Seatbelts, well, luckily it's easy to replace them with some nice aftermarket PE seatbelts.
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7793/img8168z.jpg (http://img40.imageshack.us/i/img8168z.jpg/)
Windscreen wipers looks rough, maybe these could have been done as PE parts?
http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/7524/img8153b.jpg (http://img846.imageshack.us/i/img8153b.jpg/)
Ejectorpoints are a bit deep.
http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/3388/img8141w.jpg (http://img198.imageshack.us/i/img8141w.jpg/)
I think that they should have done taillight bulbs /light inserts. Now both the taillight lenses and light inserts are completely plain. Also the implementation of boot handle/ register plate lamp lid is weird, Don't understand why it is separate part, and there is no alignment pins. No place for Ford logo either.
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/1525/img8176t.jpg (http://img508.imageshack.us/i/img8176t.jpg/)
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/7355/perkw.jpg (http://img15.imageshack.us/i/perkw.jpg/)
Door panels are ok, but there is no panels at the back of the car. Scratchbuilding...
http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/7575/img8178o.jpg (http://img848.imageshack.us/i/img8178o.jpg/)
Something missing from the A-pillar. Well, that black area, "triangle" is done as decal, but I don't think that it is enough. And one joint is missing. Door fitment is actually OK but I would have preferred inseparable doors.
http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/4817/img8181a.jpg (http://img703.imageshack.us/i/img8181a.jpg/)
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1540/apilari.jpg (http://img28.imageshack.us/i/apilari.jpg/)
Fenders seems to be a little wider the ones in the real car, don't they? Anyway, for example Tamiya use to make their kits usually little wider than they should. Maybe for better looks?

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7624/leveys.jpg (http://img148.imageshack.us/i/leveys.jpg/)
http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/3696/img8183v.jpg (http://img829.imageshack.us/i/img8183v.jpg/)
Of course some positive points too:
Excellent and sharp detailing of interior.
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/9296/img8144x.jpg (http://img684.imageshack.us/i/img8144x.jpg/)
Rims looks nice.
http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/8725/img8154.jpg (http://img607.imageshack.us/i/img8154.jpg/)
Carbonfibre decals looks perfect, usually carbon fibre decals looks too pale. And printing quality of decals is avesome.
http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/9813/img8167d.jpg (http://img714.imageshack.us/i/img8167d.jpg/)
Interesting point is also that it's possible to use this kit as a donor kit for correction of Hasegawa's Focus WRC 03'-05'. This 3.generation of WRC Focus' used same rear suspension and parts of rear chassis as 2. gen Focus. Also parts of rollcage can be used and Seats too + other smaller parts. Haven't checked out measure differences yet. As some might be aware, Hasegawa hasn't remade the chassis and rollcage for 2003 WRC Focus but used 1. gen WRC's parts which is incorrect.
Anyway, I want thank SimilR for this new rallycar kit, even with it's little errors. Don't take my words as discourtesy but as constructive feedback from a modeller. Hopefully we will see new products from you soon. Probably modern rallycars but wouldn't mind to see some older ones though (Audi quattro S1, someone, PLEASE; PLEASE; PLEASE.... :-D)

Thanks for the review.
I always thought many people were going too fast talking about Tamiya identical quality, but the kit is quite good from what we can see, even if the imperfections are quite noticeable too (clear parts fitment, body lines lack or missing, and most of all this suprising too wide fenders...:screwy:).
could you please take a look at the rear wing and report here if as I think from the first sight the rear wing sides are too flat and straight and not round enough or if it's only an optical effect on ths pics ??

You're right, haven't looked the rear wing before you mentioned about it. There might be something wrong with sills also, gonna take photos tomorrow. Also found out lack of a couple of parts, gearlevers on the steering wheel and fueltank covers, which are included in the Renaissance's PE set, luckily.

Ok, thanks for this additional informations, will appreciate news pics !
I'm a bit confused to see they did so big mistakes while in the same time looking for good details... :screwy:
Some things are not impossible to fix and are only strange conception choices or unperfect manufactering issues, but a deformed rear wing or so big fenders, that's clearly a lack of attention to accuracy on something easy to look at.
But it's good to have this kit though, anyway the Renaissance model is completly false as already stated here and cost 3/4 times this model !!
it's a new brand, it deserves our support, would it be only because almost all other ones have forgotten what rally is !! :disappoin
I hope the brand will give its best attention to accuracy and manufactering expectations, if they do they could quickly become, and belkit too, the leading rally kits brands.
I ordered mine, can miss this one, enough perfect for me or not, nothing never is anyway :icon16:  :p

Pardon my ignorance, but I assume Dexter will be making it?
Yes and no...
It's not easy for me to explain that in english, but Blue Stuff is a new label of Dexter Models.
In the future, Dexter Models will produce only special T/kits and other things in very limited production (Like Honda RC-30 Le Mans 2009).
These products will be too expensive to produce (due to limited quantity), to be sold through retailers...Too high price for the final customer :shakehead
So they will be available only on my web site.
So products like decals, PE parts and others small things will be sold under Blue Stuff label and available in all web shops (I hope of course...)
Rossi's decals for Focus will be sold under Blue Stuff...(But draw by me  )
This is brilliant news Bob....will the decals carry the correct flouresence as per the actual car? For example, the strip across the windscreen, 46's etc. For me this is a very important factor in the success of the model.
Can't wait for these....will have to buy a set or two...the best Rossi WRC car by far. Any plans to do the Rally GB version from 2008?? :runaround:
Yes of course, I will do the fluo yellow sun visor and also the single "Beta" logo, if some modelers want to paint the windscreen to match perfectly the fluo yellow of the body.
And also the Rossi's logos with all fluorescent colours, "M" Monster logo with 4 shade of yellow/green...Well, a decal sheet with at least 15 colours !
No plans to do real rally cars liveries, but 2008 Rossi's Focus is also in progress.

In Bulgaria the Focus used reflective tint on the windows.
What kind of material we ca use to replicate that?

I'd try something like Tamiya's smoke with Kosutte Gin San over it (or another metal powder). This way you get the "reflectivity" and the transparency you need.
I doubt there is a film or paint out there that more accurately represents this. If there is, I don't know about it...

The metal powder could be a nice way but the effect from the inside of the window may be inadequate.

I don't quite understand...I was saying to do it on the outside of the window. (Sorry if I wasn't clear.) I don't think doing this on the inside would work well at all...

seeing as the real tint is an applied film you could just go about getting some.
samples maybe?
offcuts from garages/workshops?
worse comes to the worst, just buy a full sheet.
I've seen one place that sells 3m of the stuff for about £8.

there appear's to be a "soft" element to this Model which gives it a Heller/airfix element..
disapointing really our only hope is that tamiya make an accurate one...
Bes kits also seem to be guilty of the same...
Modelling is all about detail...unfortunately these new manufacters appear to be un aware or ignore this.. a few extra finishing electrodes and the relivate accurate reference material would execute an accurate model

Well, I won't say "these" if you put belkits in the same boat.
I just received my kits this morning, focus Simil'R and 207 Belkit, and I must say after a quick look at both that the 207 is far better and more accurate than the Focus...!!
I won't criticize too much the Focus, but will say what has to be said, and I prefer thinking those big errors are due to too much enthousiasm, hurry or so, and still encourage Simil'R to go on but keeping in mind the fact that modelers won't forgive to plastic kits brands what they could to artisanal limited productions.
Industry offers all good efficient tools to brands expecting accuracy, and if some can all can !!
especially when mistakes are due to a lack of observation...
May post here a cross review of both kits in the coming days...

I would like to add that these are "first" injected molding efforts by complete newbies.
Constructive criticism might help then improve on future projects, but saying that they're bad!?......I suggest you selling your house to finance the production of a car model kit and see how well you handle all the hassle that comes with it.
Again please give Simil'R and Belkits some slack, you might be surprised where they stand and have released in a few years from now.

Hi, Luc. I agree totally with your opinnion.
I'm doing this kit and I'm really suffering, but no more that with other models from Reji, Renaissance or Studio 27.
Only difference from those is material (plastic) and cost (less than half of any of those other brands). I think that problem comes preciselly from this, when you hear plastic, think directly Tamiya, and obviusly compare Simil R with Tamiya is not proper.
It's clear that this is not a perfect kit, not apt for beginners, but the effort that SimilR founders have made need to be take into account.
Sure that they are collecting impressions from lot of modellers around the world and their next launch will be much better.

There's something that doesn't work in your way to defend Simil'R...
Being at the start of plastic injection can only be an excuse for plastic or casting quality but never for inaccuracy of the model !! :shakehead
And they don't inject themselves plactic, this is made by a chinese firm who surely isn't at the same start !!
So being a beginner isn't a sufficient excuse for me...
The main problem with the focus isn't the quality of the plastic injection but some inaccurate conception choices and false parts !!
(who would seriously pretend that it's because they are at the start of the business they put a wrong square rear wing ???)
I don't see and believe what more experience can change into that, that only can be changed by more attention to accuracy and details.
They surely have found a good way into modeling market by releasing expected WRC models, it's precisely because of that that it's hard to accept such mistakes...!
They can answer to an unsatisfied demand, but will only be able to do it with accurate models.
What is the most unacceptable is that any confirmed modeler knowing a minimum the car would have seen and ask to correct the mistakes... So why not them ??
and for example of the good points they are today all brands together the only one having made a correct AbuDahbi red !!
So it's possible to do right.
If I would launch a brand in this business the first persons I will ask to validate the product are those who will use it !!
Industry considerations shouldn't be an excuse but an answer. :icon16:
(which is simple to say for sure but some make it even at the start)
All I expect now is they get enough attention and industrial power to attend what reference brands attend. But way is still long...
I purchased the Focus even if I don't like it, just to support this new brand, but I really expect more accuracy and they will need it to interest people.
All the LHS I visited these last weeks since the kit release haven't sold even a single focus kit... There must be a reason...?! :screwy: :disappoin

Hi, rallymaster:
I understand perfectly what you say. I also expected much more from this kit, but we have the same case here that for other brands as REJI, Renaissance, Studio27, MFH, etc.
Maybe all of us know that a lot of work will be necessary in order to make an acceptable model, with lot of putty, adjustments and scratch to be made, just at the same way that I'm doing with the Focus kit.
If we are able to accept this for a kit that cost more than double, why not with SimilR?
The wrong thing here it's try to sell this model to the general modellers as a Tamiya, as the level of skill needed is high, more when price is also higher.
We don´t know what problems they had for the 4 months delay. Maybe the quality for the probes were not goor or experience of the chinese company was not enough for precise model kits...
I only hope people from SimilR take notes of all the comments in order to improve as much as possible their next creations.
