I've got the fuel pump assembly for my 99 Sierra on its' way. Can you give me any help with the replacement instructions. I'm planning to drop the tank while the truck is on jack stands. I'm hoping I can get it high enough to allow the tank to clear the underbody for pump removal/replacement. I will relieve the pressure before disconnecting the line and filter from the pump at the fuel rail Schrader valve. The dealer wants $750 to do the job. I purchased the pump for $140 new. It's not the OEM mfr's pump but has a 12 month warranty. What do think a fair time to do the job would be? Should I presoak rusted bolts that may have to be removed with WD40 or similar product? The pump assembly comes with a new gasket that looks it will seal around the tank opening. Any info. is appreciated. I suspect many do it your selfers have done this job for less than the dealer charges and were successful.
Thanks,
Fred:)

I wouldn't use any pump besides a napa brand or a/c delco. Unless you want to do the job more than one time. Be careful when lowering the tank there can be small vacuum lines attached to part mounted on the top of the tank. If your not careful you can break the nipples of those pieces and there not necessarily cheap.

The only way you will get the fuel lines disconnected from the pump is with these disconnect tools.

OK thanks for the input. The tools look similar to what I used to replace the filter a while back. I hope the pump I ordered will last but if it doesn't I should be better at the labor part.:)
