How long should a 5.3L rebuild take through GMPP?

Hi folks,

I have done quite a bit of searching and can't quite seem to find my answer.

I have my 2007 truck in for an engine rebuild. It has 62000 km's on it. It was starting to burn oil. Due to the many delays on GMPP's side, it has now been over 5 weeks.
Is this the norm? I would think it is not. I have talked to many people. At the dealership (who have been top notch), and folks at GMPP Canada. Is there anywhere else I can turn?
Sorry for bundling questions. I am starting to get a tad frustrated over the entire situation.

Any input would be appreciated.

why did this engine BURN OIL ? To do this at this mileage is very odd. how much oil in 1200KM did it BURN ?

If the engine has worn rings/then the cylinders will need machining ..

they should have given you a short block take just 2 days..

the dealership to do a rebuild is not good. change out/replace an engine ok ..rebuild no way...when you get it back trade in for another vehicle .

The last trip it burnt 1l in 1000 km's. Apparently the chamber walls were deformed, due to wear. They are installing .020 pistons and rings. Truthfully if it wore already, then it will no doubt wear again. She gets a service every 5000 km's. So it is not due to cruddy oil. The dealership wanted to replace it, but GMPP wanted the rebuild. You are right. I should trade it in immediately.

the dealership wanted to replace engine ! this is why you have no ride. canada is much different than massachusetts on product issues..

with that engine failure info this should be unloaded fast ..sounds like you should get some new vehicle literature and start looking ..

If it should not be corrected soon see how much you can get on trade for new vehicle..

I have already started looking. Hopefully I can get a good trade-in.

if the cylinder walls have excessive wear I would think they would send the block out to be bored then install sleeves. with what you stated it appears they are installing different rings/pistons to overcome this defect ..

Yes. They are installing oversize pistons and rings. The block is being honed by a local engine shop. They are going to 20 over. From what I have read, 40 over is the most that block can accommodate. So, off I go in a search of a new ride.
