Well sort of. couldn't really pass this up, as it was given to me. parents relatively new car.
2008 Mazda 6 Sport 2.3L ATX. its a 'fun' car, but super slow in a straight line. thing is just about as fast(well slow) as my nissan, but has a little more of a low end punch. thing just turned 20k miles today actually. already started modding it as i was given it like 4 days ago.

i will say that the car does like high speed turns more than my sentra, as it just stays planted, and the sentra would have some body roll with it. the sentra would kill it in a low speed slalom course, but i have a feeling the 6 would beat it in a high speed course. its almost about an additional 600 lbs heavier than my sentra too.

Well its not a Z...lulz. I was actually going to get one as my first car before my mother decided that I wasn't allowed a vehicle even remotely construed as sporty, but they are good cars. All the guys back in my Mazda club that got the 6, Speed6 or not, loved 'em. More so than any of the 3/Speed3 guys.
If you want any more go fast parts for it or help with it, let me know, I can get you pointed in the right direction. I'm fortunately (or unfortunately, however you want to put it) well versed with the DISI Turbo and non Turbo 2.3L motors.

cass, do you know if the 6speed trans from the speed6 will work in the 6? i dont need it awd, but just want to do a trans swap on it. possibly take the 5 speed bellhousing and swap the 6 speed gear stacks or potential drop in?

To the best of my knowledge, no one has done it yet. I'll have to ask around, but why would you want to drop in the six speed? I mean, I don't think it can't be done, but not sure why you would want to go in that direction.

cass, whats the most anyone has ever put down with just bolt-ons? trying to decide if modding it is worth it, or just sell it and buy a ms6...

A buddy of mine with full bolts put down 140 wheel, this was on a Mazda3 but with the 2.3l motor. This was on the same dyno that an excellent running stock Mazdaspeed3 put down 210 wheel, to give you an idea.

I know how you feel. My last Escape had that engine and it was slow as a dog. However, I think you can bolt the Mazdaspeed turbo kit on pretty easy? I don't know that for sure though.
I can attest to the durability of that engine though. It was a company car. The dealer changed the oil every 7,500 miles with a blend, not even a full synthetic. And we beat the absolute shit out of them. Mine had 40k of rough miles on it, and one of my co-workers had 80k. Another had over 100k and all those ran great up until we got our new ones.
Congrats on the new car! I like the color.

did a recent detail job on it. only the paint was worked on in this pic. so none of the trim, glass, etc.
otherwise its been a slow a to b car for the time being. my stainless steel lines, cyro treated stoptech slotted rotors and stoptech street pads come today. its finally time to put some bite in these brakes!

lol cass, they are both comparable imo.
brembo is just a lot more expensive. if i could have found brembo slotted for the front for the 6 i would have since thats what i had on my sentra, and i loved them. i see no need to upgrade to speed6 calipers and rotors. the stock size caliper is big enough imo. but i want the slots for better wet initial bite (it randomly rains like everday here) and better pad bite (the stock brakes suck after they get any kind of heat imo). i usually "double brake" but in the event of a panic stop, you cant always do that. doesnt help that the rotors on the 6 are starting to warp already (less than 25k miles) but the car has been through a lot of stop and go traffic.

All pretty much made by the same people. I'm just good enough at convincing local Z owners who have upgraded to get me their Brembo parts from the track package. Gotta love having a stock option for 'em!

Its a Mazda issue. Happened on the Speed3 pretty regularly.

good at convincing? there is always a perk to it :D
mazda issue? good to know. lets see how long these cyro slots hold up. i hope at least longer than the stocks, as they cost the same amount.

so i bedded in the pads to stoptechs instructions, and the pads along with the rotors are super quiet. brakes were smoking during the pad beddin sequence. had people looking at me like i was crazy when i was cooling them down, and they just stunk. they feel like the stock brakes with a little more bite, but when i really push on them they just grab unlike the stock ceramics. all in all im pleased. now time to order the backs to match, swap the lines, and flush with motul (since super blue is illegal in FL due ot it being blue) to get that super hard pedal bite.
