Radiator replacement

I just ordered a replacement radiator from Autozone - Spectra Premium 432393.
I found some good instructions on the forum on doing the job, but have one question: what about the transmission cooler lines going to the radiator that get disconnected? Do they have to be capped or plugged? Since the tranny is much lower than the lines, are the lines empty (air only), with no transmission pumps operating? Therefore no problem? I'm thinking that is the answer, but I'd like to know for sure before disconnecting things. Thanks.

It will breath through the transmission dipstick just keep adding and checking when the car is running. You will lose ATF no matter what you do. They are clips around the transmission lines to quick release them without having to unbolt it from the radiator. Remove the cooling fans and motor mount and drain coolant thats it.

OK...so will I be leaving some transmission fluid in the old radiator?
No need to plug the lines?
Would like to be sure about what to expect. Thanks.

The radiator cools both engine and transmission so when you remove the old radiator lean it on a oil pan and let it drain out the trans fluid, do whatever you want with the old one it doesnt matter. But If I was not doing this in a few hours I'd tell you to cap the transmission lines or use some tape on it so it doesnt leak.

In the end you'll have to put everything back and top off fluids.
