This is a 57 ford extended cab roadster. It was first drawn then redrawn in illustrator. Now, if I could only build the real thing :D

well this is a drawing forum. . . and he drew it. To get some good colors and touch up, computer manipulation is the best thing to use.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. It didn't seem to quite go with all the photoshop work in the graphic manipulation forum.

A tutorial eh. Well, that might take me some time to write up. I'll see what I can do, but I'm not quite sure I could spell it out in a way that it would help you. I'll have to hunt down my Harley tonight. It was done completely in illustrator.

I thought it might be hard to do a tutorial. That's cool, if you don't want to. I can see how it would be a little difficult, working with the program and all.

I'm assuming you have little to no experience with Illustrator. The progam it's self is pretty simple. There are really just a few things that I use the most: The pen tool, pathfinder, and of course the open and closed arrows. The main thing to know though, is to work in layers. If something needs to be placed above or below something else, it's easier to move the layer than having to move all sorts of pieces before and after.

If you need any specific help with illustrator, just let me know. It's by far my favorite program and I know it pretty well.

roger that.....It will be about 2 months before I make the move to illustrator....I am reading my new book 'Illustrator Bible' 700+ pages.
It seems to be doing a good job explaining stuff.


Do you have a art pad that hooks up to your computer. I think Wacom makes the best graphix tablets from what I here.

Yea, I use a Titanium Powerbook at home and a dual ghz Power Mac G4 at work.

Thanks for the props. I've had this truck for over 11 years now. I can't get enough money to put in to. It's an expensive hobby, but it's all so fun :eek:

Well, here's that 1933 Harley I was talking about. Now, just think...this was done in college about 5 years ago. One of these days I'm going to do a rendering of my truck like this :)

Photoshop? Yea, you can add some nice effects with photoshop. I prefer to use illustrator though. It's vector based and tends to keep that drawn or acrylic painted feel to it.

WoW, The harley is sweeeeeeet. :eek2: You da man /w Illustrator.....I was reading another book in Barnes&Noble....called 'Illustrator Wow book'....It had demonstrations, where you would do your stetch with hand on paper and then scan it / import it / and create a template / basically with tracing (make the lines perfect to where it looks like a computer rendering) and then lay down the color, effects and what not.

I will do my Morpheus Skyline that way...after I finish the Ill. bible book.

I will post the work of my Dad's Harley when I finish it....I am painting a 2003 Fatboy bike......:) It's for pops day.

Thanks...I do love illustrator. I'm currently about to restart a Halle Berry rendering I originaly started a few years back. It's about time I start a new Illustrator project.

That's the ticket. For the Harley I scaned in an image, imported it as a tif and locked down the layer the photo was on. Then start tracing. Remember you have to start from the background and move forward. You have to think in reverse of how you would draw it.

Right, layer that baby up, work in reverse...got it.
