Can you paint ..

... Carbon Fiber Hoods w/out losing its Carbon look ? And does this hood fit the 4door LX ? ( 90-91) ? HOOD (http://www.civicshop.com/products/exterior/101017.shtml) ? im thinking about it. But If i do get this, i need to first know if you can cut up the hood w/out damaging it. Or will it shred up or somin ? thankz :)

well obviously if you paint over the CF you wont be able to see it.....but if you paint a part of it, and then re clear coat it, it will look brand new. Its the clear coat that make the carbon fiber look the way it does.

:rolleyes: lol - i've seen it done b4, just wanted to know how to do it. I've seen it 2 toned, they did their red design on the front and faded it to its original carbon fiber look.

you would have to implant the color pigment when there laying the carbon material, or spend a hellava lot of time painting the white boxes and not the black ones.

ohhhhh your talking about the Carbon KEVLAR hoods....... those are the two toned hoods that look alot like carbon fiber, but are like red and black instead of black and grey.... check out www.fiberimages.com they have them. Also look up Carbon Kevlar instead of Carbon fiber.

he;s talkin about puttin a pearl color in the clearcoat and then sprayin clear over the hood. that's how you do it. fund a pearl color you like put it in the clearcoat then spray your good.

if i were you i would just buy an 88-91 hatch hood, i kno ppl say they wont fit, but i was going to get one on mine, they are almost the same size but the only problem is the hinges. you will have to moddify it to fit, but i think it would be easier than cutting.

I dunno what you have been smoking but the hatch hood will NOT fit the 4 door ... the sedan hood is longer ... find some old pics of kris's hatch, he used to have a sedan hood on it

A CRX hood will fit a hatch, cause if I recall h4bangins cf hood came off a crx

fool, i almost bought one last saturday, we were putting it on and the and it was only about an inch short , but it would still fit. the only problem was the hinges. the reason i kno is becuz he was going to trade me hoods. so we took out both of the hinges and they were made different. just wait till this summer when i have time to moddify the hinges and ill have pics with it on my car. sucka!
