HOw long should i wait, after primering to sand ?
then paint..?
also for primer, before i paint, should it be COMPLETELTY smooth? cause i can still see little granulars... like BABY orange peal kinda...
alsoo
what is considered 1 coat of primer.. cause when i do it, i shake the can, spray around the body at least 3 times, consectutively....
should i do another coat (3 times) tonight?

Well if you know what's in the FAQ, why did you ask this:

If you read the FAQ you would know the answers to all your questions anyway.
The body has to be as smooth as you want he paint to be, obviously!!!

It says NOTHING about how smooth it should be ... soo check again, and u might want to get ur eyes checked
also, it would be alot easeier to Just tell me, then make a fight bout it.. not worth it dude..
and NOT necessary i dont think, for it to be COMPLETELY smooth.. is it?

I'm not going to say anything even thought I want to.
Since you can't help yourself here comes the help. ;) j/k
If you think the primer is a little rough then sand it with a high grit, guessing 2000 or higher.
I just started using this rust oleum (brand) primer. And it comes out rough. not orange peel it just doesn't spray as smooth. So I have to sand it with a light grit.
Tamiya primer I think doesn't need to be sanded as much.
But if you think sections/primer job is dry obviously ALL you have to do is sand. right? :finger:

Since you're too good to go read yourself, here are links to the sections of the FAQ you SHOULD read to get the answers to your questions:
How to prepare a body for priming and painting (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=547069&t=9066#post547069)
What is Primer? (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?postid=578991#post578991)
BTW, if you're going around the car 3 times with primer in one go, you're applying way too much primer at one time.

I don't want to join this fight, all I want to do is watch it. ;)
Hope I have helped. :alien2:

Cry me a river.
I don't mind helping anyone that will help themselves, the reason I directed you to the FAQ was because the first thing you asked was something that is clearly stated in the FAQ.
I apologise if I ocer-reacted, but there are far too many questions being asked at the moment which are covered in the FAQ and you have to admit this gets annoying.

He yells because you can't just expect someone to always just give you the answer, sometimes you have to work to find the answer yourself.
ALso some stupid threads could be prevented by looking in the FAQ.
Not saying this thread is stupid.
And againt who needs to pipe down?! :finger4:
Tell me why did you tell him to shut up, even when he tried to help.
Sending you to the FAQ was right, shouting was not. Eh who cares even if someone shouts at you. You're the only one who has reacted this way to freakray after being sent to the FAQ. I don't know what else to say but I think I should shut up.

Integra14, I think you need to apologize for what you siad earlier, that was'nt right. Freakray IS a help, maybe not to you but he has helped me before and I'm happy for that.
Maybe you did read the FAQ, but did you understand it? What the heck do you mean how smooth? You're old enough to judge how smooth you think it should be, can we really tell you how smooth it should be? Your idea of really smooth might be different from somone else's idea of really smooth. It's like asking "How shiney should my car be if I wanna clearcoat". Does'nt make sense.
Frakray does'nt need to pipe down, you seem more ticked off than him acctually. Don't tell people to "shutup" either, he has the right the speak (or type:bloated: ) if he wants to,
GROWUP

Why even sand after primering? Your only causing more particles to form on the car that will screw the paint job up. you should sand before you primer.. then spray it, sand it, then compound and wax it.

Like I siad before, you know what smooth is, just sand it down with some nice 5000 grit paper and it should be smooth enough.
First you tell him to shutup, then you call him a D*ckhead, look at yourslf dude, here you are.. a 14 year old kid talkin sh*t to a someone who is much older than you.
I expect your next post to be an apology to freakray, if it is anything less than that, it'll show us just how much of a kid you are.

Too much of a dick to tell you?
Because you are too lazy to actually read everything, I am the dick?
I apologised for over-reacting and your arrogant attitude is to call me a dick?
OK, go to that link I posted that is about primer, read the section on the FAQ it links you to, you will find the answer on the sandpaper......it is in there.
To be honest, people like you don't deserve help.

We DO know the answer, I already told him he's smart enough to judge on his own. If he think it's too rough, he should just sand a bit more until it's smooth until he's satisfied with the surface. Some things don't need to be asked but rather figured out.

Oh here we go again with one of these threads that someone asks a questions and then they get thick cause they are directed towards the wonderful FAQ that answers a lot of the questions asked on here. Just a couple of quick points
1) If you dont read the FAQ and post a thread that applies to the FAQ expect to get a short sweet answer "See the FAQ".
2) If you read the FAQ and dont understand how something is explained that is completely fine by all means ask somebody to clarify a point for you. We all know that we have a wide range of nationalities here and sometimes a persons english might inhibit them to understand an explanation
3) If you dont like somebodies help or answer to ur question dont flame the person for them. Its like asking someone in the street for directions and when they cant help u calling them all the bastards under the sun. A bit of common courtesy goes a long way.
4) Listen to your elders they know best :p (sorry couldnt resist that one)
Anyway their my two cents, and Ray I know you were probably so hurt last night that your help wasnt appreciated but its ok I think you are very helpful and I think we should all give Ray a big group hug and tell him how much he is appreciated....LOL only j/k

Hopefully we can answer this and move on eh guys. ;)
The primer should be smooth, just like the car was after being sanded.
It should be nice and smooth(no orange peel look).
Try and get the primer perfect as you dont want to be sanding it and causing dust
