My fuel pump went bad ... verified by extensive pressure testing etc. I nearly fell over when I went to pay the bill. I was expecting the 2.5 hrs. labor but they charged me $363.00 for the whole assembly, which they claimed had to be changed. I did a bit of homework and the highest price I saw was around $161.00 for that whole assembly. I understand a bit of markup on parts but that seems excessive. Any ideas? Did I get ripped off ?

I have seen this before. Decades ago, a friend had a Lincoln Mark IV. He needed the Power Antenna replaced. Lincoln dealer wanted $200. Same exact part for a Ford was $100. Go figure.

That's the price you pay for dealer service, and often times those chain service stations (like Midas and Jiffy Lube, etc.).

I just replace the feul pump in my '95 yesterday. Took me 30-45 min, floor jack & jack stands, flat tip screw driver, and a 5/16 wrench.

Bought the pump on e-bay for $39.
