Really need advice on oil pressure issue

hey everyone..

so i have a 95 pontiac bonneville...I recently got a new transmission put in.

When driving it home from the shop, my oil pressure gauge began to drop into the red (low) whenever I would come to a stop.

I went and got my oil changed and the problem went a way for a little..then all of a sudden today it began to happen again.

Whenever I'm Idle it drops into the red and starts beeping but when I'm moving its about a quarter of the way there.

I checked my oil level and its fine.

I have a long commute to work each day, including tomorrow and am wondering if it could possibly be a sensor problem in which case I'd be fine to drive or if it sounds like my car should really get to a shop. I'm really hoping I get some advice by the morning.

The car has 133000 miles or so.

Thanks to anyone who helps!

Sounds like you have some wear in the pump. Might want to try some thicker oil and see if it helps.

yes it could be a oil sending unit going bad. unfortunatley the only way to be sure is check actuall oil psi when engine is at operating temp. If oil psi is low enough to turn the light on, engine damage could result. i would advise haveing oil psi checked before you drive.

Thanks guys!

I decided to drive it to a friends house tonight and it was about 40-50 while i was driving and just above the red line when I was idle. I'm gonna take a chance and drive it to work tomorrow and then I'm gonna bring it in to a shop on Thursday, hopefully I'll still have an engine by then..
