Serious problems with the Mini-me

Ok, I had this great plan for my car but I met an awsome girl and I'm getting married now. Well, needless to say that my car took second place. I was getting tired of the leaky d16a6 and grinding tranny so I bought a d16a6 with z6 head and an Si tranny. I figured that I'd be cheap and my car would be somewhat respectable. Well, the engine was suposedly in great condition and it had a rebuilt head blah blah blah. I put the, what looked like a great clean engine, in my car and it didn't seem as fast as it should be. I was checking it out a few days after the install and noticed that the engine was puking oil out of the head (busted head gasket) Another thing is it has a DC sports header that has a huge crack in the 4 part of the header that i noticed after i heard an exhaust leak which i didnt have before.

Ok here's the thing... There is this kid that I work with with an old Feiro Gt who always talks about how fast his car is. I have raced him before I got my new engine in because he wouldn't leave me alone. I pulled on him pretty good (the way it's suppose to be). Then I get my new engine in and he wants to see what it can do, so i figure it's an easy kill and it'll be funny. Well, it turns out that he pulled on me about as hard as i did on him when i had my old engine.

Should the busted head gasket and cracked header impare my performance that greatly? I know that i'm losing compression and i'm not getting a smooth exhaust flow, but should I be this slow?

Yeah, i just didn't know that it would be to that extent... I mean crap I got beat by a feiro.

atleast fix the head gasket, the exhaust still is a problem but probaly not as bad as an oil pukikng head gasket.

well your vtec prob isnt even working that good cause if you get low on oil it will mess up the vtec. but yeah get the head gasket fixed and get a new header or put the old one back on for now

when you say that it'll mess up the vtec, do you mean long term or until i put more oil in it. I've never let it get dangerously low, so I don't see that as being a problem. I did rig up a rev activated switch for the vtec that sux really bad, hehe. I wonder if that might have something to do with it?!

he's saying that with low oil pressure, vtec cant engage. vtec is engaged MANUALLY by oil pressure, it doesnt matter how you activate the selenoid if your oil pressure isnt high enough to actually activate the vtec mechanism.

If your headgasket is blown, you may be doing more than puking oil out of the car...you may be mixing antifreeze in with the oil (bad) or oil in with the antifreeze (also bad) - Please stop racing people until you fix it, or you may blow up the motor and then your wonderful girl will laugh at your incompetence and might leave you for the guy with the Fiero ;).

On a serious note, one way to check for oil/antifreeze in a place it shouldn't be: Look for frothy looking chocolate milk type substance in the radiator (oil)...or look for bubbles and froth (antifreeze) in the oil system (dipstick) - Left untreated, these problems can render the car useless, except with the aid of a long hill or towtruck.:sun:

yeah man if the head gasket is blown it needs fixed asap before it leaves you stranded... and when they start to go your car will run like crap...

yea ... vtec doesnt work right on low oil ... so get the head gasket and all that other shit fixed asap and you will be good to go.
