Why do you need a Si dizzy for MPFI?

You can use an Si or an HF distributor. this is becasue the MPFI distributors have a Cylinder Position Sensor inside the distributor and the DPI ones do not. the reason for this is because the DPI manifold injects gas into a common plenum and gas goes to whatever cylinder has an open intake valve. the MPFI uses the cylinder position sensor to determine at what time to squir fuel into a cylinder at a given point in time.

Yes.
If you don't change to the SI dizzy, your engine will rev like mad when you let off the gas, and drop to idle when you step on it.
Which would be a great way to freak out anyone stealing your car, and perfect for keeping your mom from driving it.
