Help with these codes/transmission?

I have a 1997 Plymouth Voyager.

My transmission seems to be acting up lately.
My brother scanned my car and the codes/readings he got were:

P0720

Output Speed Sensor

P0734

Gear 4 ratio incorrect

P0733

Gear 3 ratio incorrect

P1698

Manufacturer controlled & axillary outputs

P071

o2 sensor

P0700

Transcontrol malfunction

I am wondering if this is a sensor problem or an entire transmission problem. Thanks for any help!

First I would reset the codes and see which come back. Gear ratio codes can indicate clutch wear. Have a shop read the CVI numbers. My book says P1698 is no CCD data bus signal from PCM. May have the common solder joint issue at the instrument cluster circuit board.

P0700 is only saying you have a transmission problem. It's a catch all to tell you to have the tranny checked using a specialised tranny scanner, the same used to read CVI numbers (Clutch Volume Index). The output speed sensor is easy to change. It's installed on the front right side of the tranny near the linkage yoke. Costs about $15-$40. If it's bad your speedo will be erratic or dead.

What symptoms are you seeing?

Mine did exactly the same as yours. Change the input and output speed sensors and the Transmission solenoid. speed sensors are around $30 each and solenoid is $150. That fixed mine for a long time until the tranny just went out completely, but i have 200,000 miles on the original tranny, so I feel I got my money out of that one! Good Luck!
