95 idler / pitman arm test

I have a 95 with 4 wheel drive and there is a grease fitting on the pitman arm.
The GM shop manual says to support the front end with jack stands to test the idler arm. It doesn't say anything about the pitman arm. Is it the same test procedure and allowable movement? I've read in other threads about loading the arms. Should I put the jack stands under the control arms to load the arms?
Thanks in advance.

If your idler arm is pretty loose you can get movement on the other side off of it. I have an s10 with 170k miles and idler was loose other side seemed loose but was the idler pitching up. Changed idler and both sides were tight. If you do change the idler id stay away from autozone there lifetime part had more play than my bad part. I used a Moog part tight and lifetime warranty.
